Cameroon should get two retrospective red cards one for the elbow and one for the spitting they should also be fined for there behaviour I found it utterly disgraceful and should not go unpunished as if unpunished we could see a repeat display from someone else if the authoritys are going to ignore this display; that was out of hand not to mention I noticed the ref manhandled or should I say "woman handled" more than once its unforgivable.
Its all very well saying "the ref should be stronger" but I would like a bet that no womens game has had such indiscipline.

First time I've watch the USA this tournament. They are very good but I can see the European teams slowly improving and overtaking as the money is come on line for the bigger European sides.
England have a lot of work ahead to even keep up.
Norway will be a huge test!

Enjoying the world cup as the standards are improving.

Never been a penalty, seems like any slight contact in the box the player will go down and it's even worse when VAR gets involved because slow motion replays always look dramatic.

Yep, and the thing is sometimes previously whether it's a penalty has been judged on the force used in the box, whether it's minimal or not which I personally think is the correct way about it, even if it does leave a slightly blurred line that is created by a particular refs perception of it.

I just don't like how it's now deemed correct to award a penalty for the most minimal of touches, even if it has no effect on the passage of play, like just seen with the USA player going down after realising she'd nudged the ball too far ahead, but wasn't actually impacted by the touch on her from the Spain player. Plus like you say, the slow motion replays make the challenges look more impactful than they actually are.

USA team feels like watching a side who are at completely different stage of women football evolution.
Spain are ten year + behind them.

So would you also agree that City's goal that would have won the tie against Spurs in the Champions League was also marginally offside and should have stood?

Both decisions were right by the letter of the law.

What I was saying though was that when VAR was first announced I didn't think we'd be looking at marginal calls. I thought it was just going to be for the clear and obvious errors.

Honestly....Spain probably is 10+ years behind them, possibly more.

US women's team is actually very well funded, the top college programs are well funded and well coached and even youth ranks are getting better funding nationally. The women's team pretty regularly sells out major stadiums (50k+ seats) when touring the US.

It's been that way for 20+ years already in the US. It's one of the reasons there has been such a push to get a financially stable women's league established in the US for the past 15 years....it seems there is an interest in the sport at every level but sponsors have been slow to come over and they struggle to get TV rights.

Are we not agreeing here?

terrible decision. if those are the kind of pens you want to see given thats up to you but it was the slightest of contact, Lavelle dove and her first touch was so poor she was never getting to the ball.
