A cynic might say the point of VAR is to make it a non-contact sport, and to interrupt the free-flowing nature of the game. Cant wait for it to sort an 8v8 corner in the penalty area next season, with all the shenanigans that goes on there.

Seeing the replay of the second goal, why did VAR not over-rule on the award of the corner?!? Is that not the point of the system, to resolve clear and obvious mistakes!?!?

A corner kick isn't something VAR can get involved with.

In real time I thought it stayed in - just. Only at HT when I saw the replay... Eek

I'm curious to see how they do against Sweden. Because they're dominating these bad teams more than anyone else has.

I think the USA will beat them by a few goals. They have several players rested for this game though so there may be some “rhythm” issues at the start.

Why do they choose the Player of the match so early? They still had about ten minutes to go.

I'm not convinced by the USA long-term. They have millions of players, chile has hundreds, and yet they only won 3-0. Going forward i can see the football loving nations coming through to be dominant.

They won 3-0 using what was basically their B team. I’m not sure if they will win the tournament but they have the deepest, and most talented squad. Not sure what your last statement means but Brazil and Argentina haven’t impressed at all and they seem to be “football loving nations”.

What i meant was yes they maybe the most talented. But going forward when the other teams have good quality established leagues, I think the usa will end up suffering, because i dont think the college system will produce the kind of quality that drives leagues like the WSL in england. Most of the South American nations havent taken womens football seriously, but thats slowly changing.

I'm sorry but the US professional league is at worst the 2nd best in the World. It also has one of the best if not the best women's club team with the North Carolina Courage. They'd likely make it to the last stages of the UEFA Champions League every year if they played in it.
