Obvious penalty.

The ref really didn't help there, but that was a really good save.

by my reckoning thats an average of a penalty awarded every 2 games so far. overkill?
In the premier league that'd be 190 penalties in a season...

If they're penalties what can you do?

I'm sure the handball change has contributed but so has the larger than usual difference in quality between the team in a lot of the matches so far.

there were 69 by comparison in 2018/19. so thats going to be a big jump. I can see the top 6 being done by a few last 5 minute pens by lower clubs. Should make an interesting season.

I think there's a lot of soft penalties being given because of VAR. Usually refs would she play on, but now they can slow it down and look at different angles. This thing about clear and obvious errors seems to have disappeared now.

OK, this might be an unpopular opinion, but these games with the women's national teams seem to be more open and attacking than the men's games.
