Good that it's happened, but it won't lead to any positive outcome like the tournament being taken from Qatar. This is just FIFA allowing Platini to be thrown under the bus (not that he doesn't deserve punishment, I have to stress) so that the organisation can claim they had no hand in it.

Too much of a scandal if Qatar were to be deducted from hosting the WC. I see the irony of using scandal and Qatar in the same sentence..

Especially with Infantino still in charge - he's the oil slavers' little pet.

England hosting the 2022 World Cup has been slashed by the bookies
No! Really? That is very surprising. Not that it's England specifically, just that there's no way that FIFA will buckle. The ramifications would be huge. The bookies must realise that.

Unless it's just to try and hook a few punters...

Not sure, or maybe many people have put money on it now and since the Leicester winning season they may have learnt their lesson :p
Qatar would have spent pocket money on the stadiums etc. - it would be mental if they lost out. But equally if it should not have happened in the first place then they should have what is coming to them

There was something definitely majorly dodgy going on at the time of bidding/voting

Doubtless. If it were to happen, I'd be one of the first to celebrate them losing it. I just see FIFA putting up one hell of a fight to prevent it happening is all.

Bet our new stadium would be first choice for matches.....great advertising opportunities surely....bring it on.
it would be incredible. We have some great stadiums in the UK and arguably it gives two seasons for some other clubs to invest in stand increases etc.

A special prosecutor was appointed this month to investigate dealings between Swiss Attorney General Michael Lauber and the head of world football.

Mr Lauber offered to resign last week after a court concluded he covered up a meeting with Mr Infantino and lied to supervisors while his office probed corruption surrounding FIFA.

But the authority overseeing Switzerland's federal prosecutors announced on Thursday that special prosecutor Stefan Keller - who also requested permission to begin proceedings against the attorney general - had found indications of criminal conduct related to the meetings.

Not much of an election this time, Infantino elected by acclamation as he was unopposed. New term goes until 2027.

And he starts with a bang. I would say unbelievable but this is par for him.

The **** could promise some proper compensation for migrant workers in Qatar then. They can afford it.

Also a ridiculous wink wink nudge nudge to the future there. The man obviously wants this for life.

This statement is so wild even Trump could learn a thing or two from it in its derangedness.

This is where FIFA need to be very careful, especially after the Netflix documentary.
All it will take is a dozen countries to break away and form their own World tournament and the great FIFA gravy train that has fed unworthy mouths who haven’t had the same values as the original founders since the mid 80’s will collapse.
I’d love to see it.

This absolutely 100% should happen, but the apathy that's greeted the fix to ensure Saudi Arabia get the 2034 World Cup has been terrible. No outcry, no protests, nothing. After Qatar there's no appetite for the fight any more. FIFA and Infantino have won.

The decision to spread the 2030 tournament across three continents to give Saudi a clear run at 2034 is an even worse piece of corrupution than Qatar, Russia or even Germany 2006 which was a hellishly corrupt process. Not corrupt in terms of bribes under the table or anything (although there might be a bit of that as well), the corruption here is more in a moral sense. Making sure there isn't time for a proper bidding process, making sure nobody else can get involved. The corruption stinks to high heavens but nobody's willing to take up the fight any more.
