I'd be curious to get more detail on the turmoil he talks about.
We were shit in the 90's and kept employing shit managers.
What else?

Actually contradicts himself. Says he never wanted to leave and only left because NUFC wanted the money, then turned down the chance to stay after Shearer broke his ankle.....
Yes we were a bit of a mess when he joined. So you should've stayed when you had the chance Leslie.

Yet he rejected the opportunity to turn down the Spurs move when Shearer got injured...

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I can remember Sugar moaning about the cost of signing Sir Les and Ginola. Fair enough, the 90s weren't the best period all told although Ginola seems to look back fondly on his sojourn at the club.

TBF he had a horrendous time with injuries with us. He tore his stomach muscle iirc? Also, even if he is a boyhood supporter, going from title challenging to mid/lower table in the space of a season must have been a pisser.

We had an atrocious physio room back then.

If you read it you'd see he was speaking to Sky Sports. The Mag has just written up the quotes

Ferdinand seems like a nice enough guy, and he was a very good striker when he was at his peak. But it was the kind of signing that encapsulated a lot of what was wrong about us during the 90s/early 00s. Investing in big name players, players who had achieved great things at other clubs but were now past their prime. Gus Poyet, Jamie Redknapp, Tim Sherwood and Teddy Sheringham (the second time round) are other names that spring to mind.

Their old legs couldn't carry them through the full 90 minutes anymore, and I remember the team collapsing against ManU in 2001, losing 3 - 5 having been 3 - 0 up. I have to say that was one of the most embarrassing moments as a Spurs fan. (Admittedly, there have been several others over the years...)
What's the betting that Sky use footage from that match in the run up to Sunday's game?

Fair enough. Not everyone that plays for us is a boyhood fan. So long as they give 100%, I don't really care if they support someone else. Jimmy Greaves recently said he hardly ever watches Spurs (or indeed any football), he's not really a fan of any club. Though he did say he hates Arsenal. He's still a legend.

Wasn't great move for us either Les.

Wasted enough money on him and from what I remember, seemed a bit injury prone. Also, wasn't the most prolific. At least he got paid handsomely, not sure we got much out of it.

It was terrible... outdone by a 3-4 loss to Man City in the cup over 2 years later...
