Chelsea vs Man Utd..

With all the big teams out already and another after this round, we look to have missed a real good opportunity this season.

What a shame.

- Bristol City vs Shrewsbury/Wolves - AFC Wimbledon vs Millwall - Doncaster Rovers vs Crystal Palace - Middlesbrough/Newport vs Manchester City - Chelsea vs Manchester United - Swansea vs Barnet/Brentford - Portsmouth/QPR vs Watford - Brighton/West Brom vs Derby

This was our year lads. Don't worry though. We might scrap a point against Watford now this time. Glorious.

Remember, winning cups is only good for the ego.

AfC Wimbledon v Millwall I've just had a quick look on the Kumb website, they are literally beside themselves with disappointment after seeing the draw. The collective sighs of relief and cheers from The Westfield Shopping Centre and the Met Police can be heard from miles around.

There might only be 2 or 3 prem sides left after the next round if we get a couple of shocks.

You know full well that we'd have drawn City, United or Chelsea away if we had got through.

What a free kick from Barnet!

I can’t imagine there are any 5th-tier teams in other countries that could play this quality of football.

Remember, winning cups is only good for the ego.

I know I will get neg-repped for this but I don't care.

That's a giant over-simplification of what Poch meant. Poch wants what is best for Tottenham Hotspur FC. That means being in the CL is more important than winning domestic cups, especially now with our injury crisis. We cannot afford to go all out for the cups, especially the domestic ones.

I completely agree with him that winning a domestic cup will not take us to the next level or help the club attract new talent or keep the ones we have.

If anyone disagrees with that then they are most likely more interested in winning a cup for bragging rights, i.e. ego, than wanting long term success for the club - which is only possible by participating consistently in the CL.

I'm not a neg repper, I respect most people's opinions because that is what a forum is all about.

What I have thought about for a long time now and is seeming to be coming to the attention of others is that
the hard-core weary travelled supporters who are travelling up and down the country are being cheated and mistreated by the club. I am hearing it more and more from supporters I know, many who have been going for
over 50 years.

Thousands who put their hands in their pockets, took time off from work and family and travelled to Tranmere on a Friday night a few weeks back to watch and support our team play in the FA Cup and then trekked to Chelsea on Thursday and then across London to Crystal Palace and have now been told those cups don't matter. They have been cheated by the management of the club who are not trying to win a specific set of games. I attended many hundreds of games home and away including Europe and I like to think back then that every game was winnable - At that time

If this is the case then the club should out and out say so - Those valiant away wins against West Ham and Arsenal in the Carabao cup mean nothing in retrospect.. All for nothing. Those hopes and fears, joys and tears. It's an addictive thing building your life and lifestyle around your chosen club.

The fans went through all that emotion - the joys of victory, the bragging rights over our local rivals - all for nothing in the long term. It's pure and simple fraud. They should say so from the outset and not even charge
good money for tickets for these 'second rate' completions.

I have heard the question asked "did that penalty on Sunday get missed on purpose" ? Conspiracy theory ?

Stranger things have happened.

Your overall point is fair, and CL is more important. But winning a cup would benefit us tremendously in terms of a winning mentality, and also help our profile.

Thanks for a thought out and respectful response. I understand the frustration and the wants as much as anyone - but - maybe, just maybe (channeling Louis CK here :p), we should try to be realistic here. We are not owned by an oligarch or a Gulf State or Sheikh with limitless money to spend. We are financially stretched with a delayed new stadium clearly impacting our transfer strategy. The club has to prioritize and make difficult decisions for long-term success.

We have a seriously bad injury crisis and we had two cup games during this crisis - so I think the current criticism for the cup exits against Levy and the club is a bit unjustified and unfair this time around.

We've come a very long way in the past decade and it can all unravel in an instant. Miss out on CL and Kane, Alli, Son will probably want to move on. Even with CL it is almost impossible to keep our best players, re: Eriksen and Toby. This is the unfortunate reality we are in.

And in no way did Trippier miss on purpose, and I'm not a fan of his. No player wants to put himself in that position willingly. It was really windy too, he had to twice reset the ball because it moved from the wind. Who knows if it moved slightly just before he kicked it. It only has to be a few millimeters off for it to go tits up.

He missed because he played it like a free kick. His whole approach was way off.

I agree with a lot of points been made about the travelling fans. They don't deserve to be told that, id be thinking its a bit hollow too
