Everton are really putting down a market this summer.

So far

Pickford
Michael Keane
Klassen
Sandro Ramirez

All young, talented and sensible but exiting signings.

Hope they overtake Liverpool.

And yet again people get over excited by teams spending money which is surprising especially seeing Spurs fans get on the hype train because we've been there with the whole Bale thing. Anyone thinking that Everton will get near the top four needs to get their head checked especially since they're losing their talisman and their 2nd highest scorer from last season, not to mention that the they have to overtake two teams who finished comfortably above them to think about getting in the top four.

Squad familiarity and an organized and disciplined system will still probably win over sides spending big IMO.

I'd say maybe next season rather than the upcoming one they could challenge for the top four. If the new signings gel, the young players they used last year develop and they find someone to replace Lukaku's goals then they could have a pretty good team.

So what should they do? Keep the same team as last year and not buy? Theve bought some really good players. No one is saying they will be better than us, they are building to be a better team and making sone sensible buys. Wish we had spent 80 million so far

Koeman is one of the "second season" managers who now has a full window and pre-season to shape his team. We saw at Southampton how capable he is. Clearly he's a man who knows what he wants and has a chairman that gets it for him. Compare that with the problems Maureen is having.

Meh - Lukaku will be a bigger loss than all their signings will be a gain. I think Levy has learnt the value of a good goal scorer and now knows that they are something to be cherished.

Given our experience over the last decade, we should all be acutely aware of the difficulties involved in getting into the top four.

It's bloody hard. Everton are likely to lose two key players by the end of the summer, sure they've been replaced, but by untested players.

I've no doubt that Everton have ambitions, but it's not as easy as throwing money at the transfer market.

They're only spending that money because Lukaku's off. Would you rather we were selling Alli to fund some overpriced, 'decent' players?

When Koeman first took over at Southampton people thought they were going down. He lost Lallana, Lovren, Shaw, Lambert and Chambers all in the same summer. But instead, he invested wisely, tweaked Poch's style to implement his own attacking brand of football and got them into the top 7 - they were even in the top 3 in January. Everyone thought he was going to be a one season wonder - Schneiderlin and Clyne went the following summer and teams had sussed them out, it was game over. Instead, they finished even higher, in the top 6, and only 3 points off a Champions League spot.

Even if they are to lose both Lukaku and Barkley, and it's not even guaranteed that both will go, then I'm struggling to think of a manager in the Premier League that's got as good a track record in the last decade or so of selling star players but finding quality replacements on a budget.

Throwing money around in itself doesn't guarantee success, but stockpiling quality players throughout your squad does give you a good chance of it, and the players they are signing do seem to be very promising. I mean, we've been linked with half of them ourselves and our fans wanked themselves silly over the prospect of it. Even if Koeman isn't the guy and this isn't the season, they are creating the conditions that will mean the right manager could get it all to click. Our squads in 2008 and 2014 had glaring deficiencies and had been very poorly managed, but they also had a lot of high quality players amongst them. When Redknapp and Poch respectively came in, implemented better coaching and management and then made a few subtle additions, the two sides both exploded to levels we hadn't seen for a long time.

Pickford, Keane, Williams, Baines, Coleman, Gueye, Schneiderlin, Klaassen, Mirallas, Davies, Holgate, Lookman, Sandro Ramirez and at this moment in time, Barkley and Lukaku. A decent manager with a track record of effectively replacing star players and playing good football. A chairman prepared to invest decent money. Especially at a time when we are going through our stadium transition, you have to be incredibly arrogant/naive to not recognise that that set up is going to be a major threat to us over the next few years.

They also have an owner more than willing to splash the cash and have the increased tv money in their favor. As of now, they've probably spent the Lukaku money. Yet they still will likely buy a few more players while the other outgoings will likely be paltry sums.

They might sell Barkley, but i hardly think it'll be that impactful on them. Especially since if they do, they'll probably replace him with Siggurdson who is a much better player.

Lukaku is a huge loss for them but they were able to improve at keeper and center back, add some decent pieces to come off the bench and a quality young striker from Belgium who will be there next summer.

Not concerned by Everton in terms of challenging us - in fact it'll be handy if they can cause problems for some of the teams around us and take some points off them - but fair play to them for trying to progress. Koeman is a good manager and they're making some solid, if unspectacular signings which address fundamental weaknesses in their first 11.

They'll lose Lukaku which will be a real blow but they may end up being a better overall team as a result. Keane and Pickford in particular are really important for them as they've been dodgy at the back ever since Martinez walked in the door. They've got some decent youngsters coming through too so it's quite a different Everton team for next year (which they need, they've been so stale in recent seasons).

Well done to the owners backing their manager (not a veiled comment aimed at us by the way) and I hope they do well enough to challenge for the top six next year. They certainly look to be the best of the rest at least.

Every team should aim as high as they can, otherwise whats the point.

Whether they achieve it or not is another question.

Not one of these players would get into our team. Spending lots of money on a large number of signings (as we and Pool have seen first hand) means nothing if they are not the right quality.

When Everton sign 4/5 players but none of them would make the Liverpool team!
