Burnley scrape through and now just need to get past Olympiakos to get into the real Europa League.

I'm pretty sure the UEFA draws are on the 30th August.

CL on the 30th and EL on the 31st.

Olympiakos v Burnley will be very interesting.

I see Celtic managed a 1–1 draw out in Lithuania earlier.

However Burnley are struggling 3-1 down, a player sent off.

The Europa League qualifiers wrap it all up this afternoon and this evening.

Those in action hoping to make tomorrow's draw include Rangers, Burnley,
Celtic, Sevilla, Rosenborg and RB Leipzig...

Some happy Thursdays ahead.

Burnley v Olympiakos is on BT2

Have Burnley got what it takes to overhaul a 3-1 defeat in the first leg ? Can they be arsed ?

I think Sean Dyche wouldn't mind putting in a good performance but not enough to go through tbh, a 1-0 win or similar. Especially after the start to the season they've had.

At least they can say they lose to a proper side with European pedigree, unlike Astra fucking Goo Goo. :p

Even though my sympathies Old Firm wise are in the Celtic camp, I'm delighted to see Rangers through. Ages since Scotland's had two teams in Europe (assuming no comedy failure from Celtic later) and it'll be very good for their game, and nice to see a traditionally big club back in Europe.

I'm sure there's plenty of schadenfreude from Celtic supporters about Rangers downfall, but that league really needs two strong teams again. The failure of Rangers hurt Celtic a lot too because it crippled Scotland's UEFA coefficient.

Watching Sam Vokes of Burnley tonight is very similar to watching an Elephant play air guitar.

Burnley are an awful football team.

There's not much of a strong turnout in the Europa league this time round.

Just had a quick look at the bookies odds ...

Chelsea: 13/2
Arsenal: 6/1
Sevilla: 10/1
Lazio: 18/1
Bayer Leverkusen 18/1
RB Leipzig: 20/1
Marseille: 21/1
Villarreal: 22/1

Looks like its Chelsea or Arsenal with a very good chance of winning this depending on the CL drop downs

I wouldn't pay attention to the odds at all until we know who the CL dropouts are and we see how seriously the supposed better sides are taking the competition. But you know Sevilla and Villarreal will go for it. For the Spanish sides it's their best chance of winning something given how dominant the top three are.

See Copenhagen knocked Atalanta out on pens, that was a surprise. And Norway have two sides in this year, Rosenborg and Sarpsborg, which is quite fun for us. Molde lost 3-4 on aggregate to Zenit so a good showing by my adopted countrymen for once.

Serves Burnley right to be honest, their finishing has been awful.

Burnley concede, thats that then, too many chances missed that forwards really ought to have scored.

The final is to be held in Azerbaijan on 29 May 2019.

That's a lot of matches and many air miles away.

This is another extremely complicated system of making a draw. Phew.
