You'll miss him once he's gone.

Eriksen had a shit season in a team that really wasn't fluid with a ton of injuries and lineup changes
And maddison supposedly was amazing

Yet eriksen still scored more and had more assists than maddison in the league

Remarkable how a player can build a reputation for scoring free kicks and then goes 3 seasons with one PL free kick goal and one Champ Lge, and still keep taking them.
He will have to go as if he signs a new contract it will only be because a big club didn’t want him. Don’t want him doing us a favour.

That's the opinion I keep forming. What kind of a player asks for a move to another club because he feels he needs a new challenge then says if one doesn't come he is willing to sit down and re-negotiate with his existing one ?? How very magnaminous of him

“I feel that I am at a stage of my career where I would like to try something new,” Eriksen told the Danish newspaper, Ekstra Bladet. “I have the deepest respect for everything that is happening at Tottenham and it would not be something negative to stay. "

I love the bold bits....talk about covering all bases :sneaky:

I certainly would say that his recent lacklustre performances have done nothing to improve his valuation so maybe he's hoping we'd let him go cheap ?. I would also suggest that this latest media outpouring (whilst it may well have been his greedy agent's idea) should now backfire and the club do everything within their power to move him on as soon as possible. It's not enough that you wear the shirt....you have to want to with all your heart and soul and do so proudly....not because Spurs are some sort of last chance saloon.....

Thanks for everything Erik, good luck in the future, it was good while it lasted.......(y)

Can no longer edit my above post but just wanted to add that every one of our players who feels they can do better elsewhere and no longer wishes to play for the team unless they really 'have to' should knock on Poch's door and tell him now while the transfer window is open. Don't want anybody still here in the team who feels that way when the new season starts ! (y)

Sometimes we obsess too much about potential transfer fees when it is more about getting the right player at the right point in his career (a bit like we did with Eriksen). Salah cost £44m incl add ons, Maddison cost £24m incl add ons, Bernado Silva cost £44m - all of whom represent an upgrade on Eriksen in my book. There are quality players to be gotten at decent prices out there. We just need to snap them up before they become established names.

Have a look at the stats for Maddison and Silva and see if they are better than Eriksen's. They are not.

If Eriksen is quoted to be worth £120M, what's an upgrade on Eriksen going to cost? His form has dipped since Dembele left us. He is a magnificent player, and you certainly will miss him once he's gone, trust me!

He won't go for anything like that amount.

I am aware of the stats and one that Eriksen regularly tops is distance covered. However when you watch him in games a lot of his runs are low in impact and aggression which is why he often gets beaten to balls you would expect him to be favourite for. Stats can be misleading.

It is easy to be be misled on players' performances by one's own opinion and prejudices, but Eriksen's stats on goals and assists do not lie. His stats in those two most important areas, which enable teams to win matches, are superior to both Silva's and Maddison's.
