Quite a worrying piece in the Daily Mail that, if true, doesn't seem very clever at all from our manager.

According to the report, Poch vetoed a potential swap deal involving Dybala and Eriksen, in the hope Eriksen would sign a new deal.

I'd have to call this bollocks as it seems very stupid not to have pursued this swap deal in the circumstances.

Would love to know if there's any ITK on whether this deal was actually ever on the table (and if so, when) ???

Sounds like bollocks to me. We went hard after Dybala in spite of the Eriksen uncertainty, not because of it.

Put the bid in now and say that's our final offer. Levy will either say yes or no. He may wait to see if another offer comes in. But it wont make eriksen any cheaper.
Giving people less time to make decisions forces their hand, quite often. It's the game Levy places every TW to our advantage.

ITK said he already said he burnt his bridges witht the club before the Dybala deal came about, can't really see that being true.

One thing I find a little odd is Pochettino's previous stance of picking players who show they are committed to Spurs and his project (presumably this was the centre of the Toby disagreement at the start of last season and when Walker was left out the season before).

However, he seems now to have distanced himself from this stance and now claims he's not interested in contracts and negotiations and that these things are between the club and the player.

To be fair after Walker said he wants to leave he still played him, he just wasn't first choice. Toby was being played in the midst of the contract negotiations when he allegedly reneged albeit Sanchez was first choice then of course last season he reclaimed him spot back.

So I don't see a difference with Eriksen here although we'll probably know how much Poch values him after the window closes that's if he doesn't leave.

Maybe with one player it was easy to hold that principle. Now we have really 4 first choice players in that position (Toby, Jan, Christian, Danny) would be a little bit harder.

He clearly doesnt want to be here if all the reports are true.

So lets get what we can for him.

This Eriksen saga is getting really tiresome the sooner its resolved the better for the team the management and the fans .
This bloke is certainly not trying to endear himself to us fans or co players or management .
I am wondering if on his last six months performances he is of the standard we require.
At least it puts to bed all these " he is world class " comments as he clearly is not world class.

Yes I agree

I want him to stay but don’t want him going on a free next Summer especially to a PL rival
Let Juve or Bayern have him for £50 million

This fucker needs to realise it is unrequited love - he loves them they DONT want him... and if they buy him... he is the guy they settle on and the guy that as soon as the clubs get who they want eg Pogba, he will be on the bench... he will be BENCHED

Needs a resolution and in 10 days time we should have it one way or another for this season.

I see this argument a lot...but then I go back to the CL final played at Real's home stadium . If CE has been deliberately not trying previously because he wanted to sign for Real , then he surely would have made every possible effort to shine on that day (full throttle in the shop window) ...

...but no , he was in his usual quietish form , no change discernible .

The CL final was at the Wanda not the Bernabau

He may not be too bothered though. Lifestyle change implies he knows there is more to his life than football. Perhaps he just wants to move somewhere different and the footy is a secondary consideration that gives him the opportunity. None of us know his motivations without knowing CE personally. He always seemed.a level headed guy to me.

I thought it was more to do with the fact he was desperate to go live in Madrid or Spain as a whole but if he also wants Juve then that throws that out. He clearly wants to go experience different cultures and dont think he would go to another team in England but the crux of the matter is none of the three big teams seem to want him. Even Bayern went for Coutinho.

The reason it is flabbergasting is that it is not like we have rejected offers, he is stuck in a situation where no one really wants him UNLESS theyre all waiting for when he is on a free which makes sense somewhat.

I think RM will get Pogba next summer so if they go for CE also, I doubt he will play all too much. Same goes for Barca and as for Juve? Overloaded with midfielders.
