glad i didn't bother with the first half - i only managed about 20 minutes of the second too.
McLaren, please, have some pride and just walk away. England aren't going to qualify for 2008, the team plays like a bunch of people who only met each other a week ago and, aside from Gerrard, not one of them looked they gave a toss tonight.
Yeah, it was a friendly, but it would be nice if McLaren could at least muster a tiny bit of enthusiasm out of the team, then maybe we wouldn't be duller to watch than drying piss.
is this, how is Defoe playing? or How is Defoe playing!
if its the first, he played behind Crouch in the first half, dropping deep and looking for the ball. Where crouch was looking to escape from the defenders with his blistering pace
When Crouch went off, Smith came on and Played behind Defoe and most of the midfeilders..... Defoe was left on his own up front with high balls launched at to try and win.
Over all it was a shit match, the guys on the tv said they needed a performance and they got one.... not sure about that, there was no tempo, prity much every player got the ball stoped looked up to see what was going on. It was a crap match and i hope Russia win today and we dont just call for McClarens head but a also the FA's too.
Barry is dropped because he plays for an unfashionable club. When the FA are trying to sell advertising space/TV rights etc there would be no worldwide interest for him whereas Lampard has a huge media profile.
Ditto for Beckham.
I can forgive McClaren/the FA for Beckham because I believe he should be allowed to reach 100 caps for his country. He has always given us 100% so if he gets a couple more friendlies then good luck to him. Although I'm sure the FA are more interested in the media circus, and therefore huge revenues, that would accompany this game.
But Lampard? If a man had been a big influence in getting you the sack, would you play him? This selection sums McClaren up, a spineless puppet for the FA.
