Empty Seats/Wembley Atmosphere

So I went to the game last night and even after all the nonsense with our stadium and the announcement of further delays, I still didn't expect to see that many empty seats against one of the top four.

Do you think the Club just needs to accept this as being the case now going forward at Wembley, have fans finally had enough of all the delays and are starting to vote with the feet?

As a ST holder I can't blame people for being fed up with the situation but like I said I didn't expect to see that many empty seats. The atmosphere seems to be in decline game on game there as well which could become a massive problem.

I don't see there being a solution other than offering cheaper seats for the rest of our time there to try and buy back some goodwill and good feeling. If I was DL I think I'd be a bit alarmed by the attendance and atmosphere last night but don't for a second think he'll do anything about it.

Last season was an evening KO on a Saturday and got 80k. Last night was 56k. Monday would always be less than a Saturday maybe 10k. I’d say 10-15k have had enough of Wembley. The Psv game will be a good indicator. Remember we got 80k for gent in Europa. Still don’t think Arsenal or Chelsea would have got anywhere near 56k considering circumstances. Arsenal were getting about 40k if that last season when things were a bit off.

People are fed up of Wembley and rightly so, we should be in our stadium by now so I'm not surprised by how many empty seats there were. Not to mention the weather and the fact that it was Monday night and you can see why people didn't give a fuck.

As far as I can see it there are essentially no season tickets for the entirety of the time we’re at Wembley. This ridiculous process of getting a refund and buying back your ticket for a different price means there is no supporter benefit to the ST at all until we’re in the new stadium. How the club haven’t seen this and done something about it to stimulate the fans is ludicrous imo. I have not attended one Wembley game this year having relatively enjoyed it last season for a total of 675 in a seat I liked!

It's a Monday night, the game is on TV, and who wants to pay top dollar to see us lose to City again?

This season just feels horrible, what with the stadium delay, no new signings and our impending CL exit.

As I’ve mentioned before, we have about 26-30k fans whose life is all about regularly going to football, no matter the circumstances. All of a sudden we need to double this and people think they can just say no. And at the moment they’re right because refunds are available. It’s an incredible commitment to make it to every game, especially if it is difficult for you to get to, as some find Wembley. It’s just a perfect storm of circumstances coming together and personally I think we’re doing well to still get as many as we do. Very few teams get crowds that big at those prices.

I can fully understand why numbers are down.

Firstly, the stadium situation has been a PR disaster, where fans haven't just been let down, but have been deliberately mis-led and lied to by the club. They will have known for quite some time that the stadium is at least 4 months behind schedule, but they chose not to say anything or be honest, because they knew it'd affect season ticket sales. The sheer arrogance of them is breathtaking.

Secondly, the fact ST holders can get refunds for fixtures this season, means that people who would normally make the effort to trudge to Wembley because they've already paid for their ticket, will take a look at our form, take a look at the journey, take a look at the weather and think "nah, I'll just have my £50 back for this one" (or whatever the sum is)

Thirdly, the fans who live further away (like me) who realistically make it to 2-3 games per season simply have no inclination to pay a fortune to take a train from Manchester (in my case) or wherever else, rush to Wembley, pay a fortune to watch us play like a bag of bastards against City, then have the stress of trying to get back to Euston in time for the last train home (and on this occasion have the pleasure of sharing it with a load of City fans who will probably be gloating at the dicking they've just given us). We're the fans who usually "make up the numbers" on top of the ST holders.

I honestly don't know what the hell the club expected by handling the stadium situation as badly as they have. Compounded, of course, by the fact we didn't sign anyone, the fact we found out Levy is on £6M a year, and as it stands can't see how our money has been reinvested.

Lots of tickets left for PSV so I'm expecting it to be similar.

The Chelsea attendance will be very interesting, another big game, this time a derby but again it's on TV so people might not turn up again like last night.

Southampton, Burnley, Bournemouth & Wolves are hardly fixtures that are going to draw sell outs, especially with the travel disruptions over the festive period. Could be a difficult month during a time we're usually very strong form wise!

I think the Club seriously needs to think hard about doing something before the wheels fall off this season.

If I'm going to have to travel all that way to watch Davies & Trippier playing I need to do it from my second home which is WHL

I am not going to watch them in the monstrous corporate atmosphere vacuum that is Wembley. We all suffered it for an entire season which was more than enough and I will not watch another game their until we go back 'home'

There is more to being a football supporter than going blindly each week like sheep. It is the ritual, the smells, the surroundings, the familiar faces, the drinking holes, the walking routes etc etc etc

As I said before most supporters have been going for 20+ years and its the little things that make the experience not to mention the match day atmosphere which is impossible to achieve at Wembley. Wembley might be OK as a one off venue but going there every week makes the experience soulless

Add all this to the horrendous way everything has been handled and the inexplicable decision to buy zero players in the Summer and we are where we are

The club wont do anything because they don't get it and don't think they've done anything wrong but had this all been dealt with differently and we had been communicated with in an honest way the current situation would be entirely different, everyone would be 'on board' and the club and supporters would be together both at Wembley and when we go home

At this rate they are going to have to find a lot of new 'customers' in the near future

I think the other issue is a lack of interest in being up in the top tier so once the bottom/middle tier is sold out there is very little interest (apart from a few in line with the half way line).

I only went up there once last season and I wouldn't do it again. Poor view, no atmosphere, ball ache to get through the turnstiles/up the stairs etc.

I have to pay more for my seat (ie near the people I know) at Wembley than I get refunded for my ticket at the new ground for all apart from Cat C games. I refuse to do that out of pure principle. A seat near the half way line at Wembley is a far inferior product to one in the South Stand at the new ground. Absolute piss take that you get refunded for 1/19th your season ticket but then buy back at Cat A or B prices.

Had absolutely no interest in going to City or any other home game this season. Only been to Liverpool and Barcelona this season and didn't enjoy the performance or result at all.

I paid alot of money for a ST at the new stadium and now we won't be in IT until over half the season has gone. I'm taking every opportunity to get some money back that I paid for that ST by taking all the refunds offered

On top of this you have the cold weather setting in, evening games on TV, poor form and performances from the team, Wembley being a crap journey and experience, the complete lack of investment in the playing squad last summer, all adds up to a perfect reason to knock it on the head for the time being.

My two cents...

First time to Wembley to watch Spurs after going to the Lane a handful of times every season coming up from Sussex.

I wasn't planning to ever see Spurs there but a friend of mine bought me tickets as a present so i thought i'd give it a whirl...Yes, the journey is pain plus cost etc but that wasn't the biggest issue for me...

What i hated was the sheer lack of "proper fans". I was sat with alot of "tourists/foreign football fans" who were enjoying the novelty of it all, which is fair enough i guess - What i couldn't stand was having a cluster of City fans two rows behind me who made themselves known when they scored.... I don't believe in "neutral ends" when it comes to Football and that royally p*ssed me off.

The inflated price of a ticket, the journey, getting in and out of Wembley...all to sit between people who aren't even there to support "the home team". OUR NEW GROUND CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH.

As a ST holder I made the decision that I was not going to any Wembley games this season (except for Arse which will be in Wembley).

It's just not worth the money. Atmosphere is shocking and it's a pain in the ar*e to get too. I'd rather have the £60 quid to be honest and watch at home with a beer (if I can, I pay for sky sports but cannot also afford BT as well).

In the past I would have attended more of these games out of a sense of loyalty to the club but the nickel and diming in recent years has left a very sour taste. The costs are too high now to be sentimental. If I view tickets as good value (i.e. top dollar for top dollar players, atmosphere, performances and results) I’ll pay, otherwise it is just too expensive now.

Can everyone stop moaning. If you don't want to go just give your season ticket to someone who supports the club properly through thick or thin, come rain or shine, in sickness and in health

There are literally millions of people just waiting for the opportunity to have a ST at one of the most successful trophy laden clubs in World Football

How anybody can turn down the opportunity to visit the home of football every other week, one of the most iconic stadiums in the World just beggars belief

You should be ashamed and need to take a long hard look at yourself

See you all next year....

If you read the THST board minutes, you can really get a grasp on how Levy and Cullen view the fans.

They completely take them for granted, hence why they charge extortionate prices for games at Wembley that was changed late and the day after an NFL game.

This game should have been cat c but they aren’t interested in keeping the fans onside.

If it wasn’t for Poch the whole club would be in a complete state of turmoil.

The PR management is laughable.

I actually think we should boycott one the home games at Wembley so the board realises they need to stop taking the piss out of the fans.

They’re a disgrace, it makes me so angry.

The Liverpool fans walked out of a game and their board listened, it needs a moment like that for our board to changer their approach.
