So they've bought up all the rights to broadcast La Liga, Serie 'A' and UFC but I'm not convinced they are any good, and not a patch on Sky or BT Sport. I've heard all sorts of negative comments about their streaming service, but I wondered if anyone on here has had any experience of what they're offering. I know it's only very early days, but has anyone signed up for one of their annual subscriptions yet, and if so, what do you think so far...?

I caved and signed up. I am an ardent fan of Seria A and couldn’t face a season of watching it illegally. So far I have been pleasantly surprised. They stream all the games you would be interested in from Spain, Italy and Holland in 1080p and will repeat games on their two channels often. They also have some documentaries and other stat programs but I haven’t watched them and reckon they may be a little iffy. On the app you can watch games OD if you miss them although it’s not the clearest how to access. Their app is still pretty bare bones and their game schedule is not detailed enough. But really, it’s to be expected. I would expect/hope both these elements will get tweaked over the season. My big gripe is not being able to just switch on my tv and have a channel, or even a player add on (which seems an obvious move to me). But I just plug my laptop into my tv and stream via their site. Considering it’s only 49 quid till next Friday I would say it’s 100% worth it if you like your football.

I'm so glad the Sky monolopy was broken. As a consumer, I'm all about choice, and I love having the choice to buy multiple subscriptions from different providers if I want to watch all the games.

Anyone know where I can find a channel called Quest? Has EFL highlights so I’m told. Getting bloody ridiculous.

The thing with Eleven sports that has stopped me from getting it is that there is no TV platform - anyone know whether there are plans to have a channel on Sky/Virgin for Eleven sports?

TV rights bidding wars are one of few areas of capitalism where competition is bad news for the consumer. Competition only pushes up prices the TV companies pay for the event and then the customers have to foot the bill. I really think/hope that the fracturing of rights and vastly increased prices will eventually burst the bubble, unless we head for a game pass situation where you pay to watch your team.

I’m wondering if it’s even worth having sky sports anymore, it’s a lot of money when added to my season ticket for a few away games that I will see?

Depends what you like to watch to be honest mate. I'd personally pay for Sky Sports just for all they other football they show, I love a Super Sunday and Saturday lunch games for instance, even when it's not Spurs. If I only watched Spurs games there's no way I'd be paying for it.

I guess it's a choice we all have to make. If you think you can live without the variety of live sports and dedicated sports channels, then fair enough, there's your decision made. I am with Virgin Media, who hire all the sports channels from Sky, and I get BT Sport as all part of my package, so no, I don't think I could live without it as I am also deeply in love with cricket and the coverage I get is unrivalled.

As I said, how we spend our money can be a tough choice to make, but just make sure you're absolutely sure of what you're doing because the downside of making a wrong decision can be very painful.

(I gave up my Spurs season ticket twelve years ago after 37 years because the price rocketed way too high for me at the time, but because most of the games are on tele these days, I'm happy as Larry).

My understanding of it is that in other countries they've made deals with regular channels/networks to show some of the games on TV i.e. they own the rights to the games but someone like BT would pay them a fee to show a particular game or set of games on their channel. Presumably their plan is to eventually try and go down a similar route in the UK. As far as I know they don't have their own TV channels though
