Tottenham Hotspur starlet Marcus Edwards has been praised for his ‘bizarre level’ by Excelsior Rotterdam team-mate Jeffry Fortes. The on-loan Spurs youngster, 20, has put in some stellar performances in the Eredivisie since the turn of the year culminating in a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win against FC Emmen.

I really hope we give him a chance to make it in the first team.

This is the first positive bit of feedback we’ve had for some time.

How many clubs did Harry have on his loanspells?

The fear with Edwards has always been that he'd be one of those amazingly talented juniors who can't quite sustain it into maturity. We've seen that story a zillion times. But signs here there may be hope.

I hope I'm not clutching at straws here but the fact he was willing to go overseas could be seen as a big positive. It takes guts to move to a new country at the best of times let alone when you're a youngster, and hopefully this is a sign that he is willing to knuckle down and do what it takes to get to the next level. We have seen with Sancho in Germany how it can work out, so let's hope we have a similar thing with Edwards and he comes back to us with a different mentality.

The recent interview with Bentaleb was interesting to read and he's a good example of someone who has changed their attitude for the better. Let's see if Edwards can do the same.

He also appears to be shining in a poor team battling relegation. I think that is another good sign.

Always pleased when one of our youngsters is doing well but this kid really seems to be taking his time. He was the next big thing a couple of years ago, then he couldn't get a game for Norwich. Obviously want him to be worth a place in the first team next year but it never seems to happen.
