I couldn't believe the cheek of Alex Fergusson and Carlos Queero going on about horror tackles that would end players careers. They mentioned the Martin Taylor tackle. I have watched the tackle and although it caused a horrific injury it didn't look to have a tenth of the malice that Wayne Rooney's lunge had yesterday. Rooney received a yellow card - I thought it deserved a straight red!. Ok he missed but had he made contact the result would have been equally as catastrophic as the Taylor tackle.
Rooney leapt from yards away with both feet way off the ground and I thought it was one of the worst acts of violence I have ever seen in football.
The double standards of fergusson and queeros beggars belief.
No doubt Rooney will receive no further punishment as the referee saw the incident. But if anyone deserves being banned for life it is him. He is a total THUG!

In my opinion, Rooney went in with full intent to catch the man, and none of the ball. Should have been a straight red. If he wasn't so fat, and could run and jump in a bit faster, he surely would have hurt the player.

The problem with Wenger and Ferguson (and Mourinho when he was at Chelsea) is that they rarely lose a football match. So when they lose, they almost always blame someone else but themselves and their own team. It's always the referee, or a tight schedule, or injured players, or the mascot.

I remember a similar incident with Mourinho. He accused Gudjohnsen, his former player at Chelsea, playing for Barca at that time, for diving. How can a man managing players like Drogba and Robben (at that time) speak like this?

Rooney went in looking at the ball.

You can clearly see him looking only at the ball when he jumps in. Im not saying that it wasn't a bad chalange but im not sure he was looking to hit the man only

whether he was going for the ball or not, his studs shouldn't be 2ft off the ground in any tackle!

Power corrupts the mind. Hope when we finally becomes a dynasty, Ramos and Poyet would be above that.
