why should we sell him to another english club? we can't sack managers for not getting us in to the top four and then sell the very players we need to get there!!

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Spot on. The next time the board fuck the team up it should be them that is held responsible. They got their one free go when they undermined Jol, next time it is their heads that must roll.

Ramos on Dimitar Berbatov

Watching 'The Premiership' on RTE2 last night (Irish channel) after they showed highlights from our match against Reading, they mentioned that at the press conference after the match, Ramos stated that he cannot guarantee that Berbatov will stay and that the decision is up to the Chairman.

This means two things:

Levy could be a typical **** and get his money while it's there and not give a **** about what's good for actual playing aspect of the club (remember that part Levy? The bit other than the business element? Yeah?)

Ramos is under the same terms that Jol was under. He has not got the control that a manager should have. Ultimately, the decision should come down to Ramos.

What are your views on this?

Ah, didn't notice this thread. The title doesn't really say much about the content tbh.

Players have all the power these days and unless a club is prepared to let a player rot in the reserves and watch their price tag plummit, costing the seller millions of pounds, they will leave if they want to.

If Tottenham were in the champions league and challenging for the top pieces of silverware Berbs would have no reason to leave.........Eek

I may be alone in this opinion but I have observed that Berba only seems to turn it on against weaker opposition.

If he goes, he goes - but we may not be that worse off without him - we nearly achieved a CL spot before he arrived.

Berbatov was the best against Manu away, assisted for Keane's goals against Liverpool, was the best against Arsenal away, and the best player on the pitch against Chelsea for the FA Cup (3:3). Add to that his goals against Real, Barca, Liverpool, Roma, Lyon, Man U in the CL....

It's ridiculous how many pathetic comments are made about Berbatov at Spurs forums.

Berbatov, unlike many of our first team, doesn't seem to care how 'big' the opposition is. He goes about matches like Chelsea, Man U etc as if they are Leeds Utd.

Posted this in response to the article on the front page, but thought I'd stick it here too. Most of it's been covered but I guess I like the sound of my own voice, or the look of my own text...

"I think that this was just a selected part of the interview. In the News Of The World today (and I know it doesn't exactly tell the truth all the time), the part of the quote just before what you mentioned was "Berbatov is very valuable to us and was magnificent. I can assure you he will stay at the club. The chairman knows I want........".

I'm one of the people who thinks all the Berbs leaving stories are rubbish. I don't think his attitude or body language is any different from last season, andI think his apparent frustration earlier this season was more to do with his own form and his lack of goals (not through poor play, but regular saves/deflections/last second interceptions/bad luck) and the last few games I've got the feeling he's enjoying it more. As he left the pitch yesterday I think he looked very happy.... and he definitely wanted that match ball!!!!. He may throw his arms about when he's not getting on the ball, but so does Robbie, and does anyone think he's going anywhere??? I also think he's more sensible than to judge whether he stays on a European place alone. Yes, it would be better for him to play at the top level, but he's not stupid, and I hope he can see that this season has been one of turmoil. If we continue to play exciting attractive football (which he has often said is his reason for playing... to play the beautiful game. It still upsets me that he didn't just put the ball in the back of the net rather than try to go around Toure at WHL earlier this season to score the "beautiful goal") and our results and league position continue to improve then if we are unable to quite catch up with the European spots I think he will still see us as a quality side going places, and stick around. Of course if we end up in 16th place in the league (which I don't think there's any chance of happening) he may have a re-think.

In case you hadn't noticed I'm one of the eternal optimist Spurs fans, so I choose to pay more attention to the positive quotes coming out of White Hart Lane about him staying (from BMJ, Comolli, Levy and now Ramos). Also, I think Levy knows he's not too popular with a lot of fans after the start of this season. Surely selling Berbs would be a PR disaster!

So I reckon he'll definitely stay this season, and I think next January transfer window we'll still be worrying about some mega-bucks offer tempting Levy to sell him. I have faith.... COYS, onwards and upwards."

Exactly, this is the point. If Berba wants to go there is nothing we can realistically do to keep him, if we refuse to let him go when he wants to he may well refuse to play or if nothing else prove to be a disruptive influence on the team. Would you really want to have a player at the club who desperately wanted to be somewhere else?

Berba staying this season was reliant upon Spurs achieving Champions League qualification, or getting another top 6 finish and winning a trophy. We still have a chance to win a cup, however small that chance may be, and doing that is our only hope of keeping him. We almost certainly won't though.

And for the people wanting evidence of the fact that Berba will be leaving, ask Martin Jol, who says in his book that berbatov wanted to go to Manchester United last summer but was convinced to give us another season.

More Berba Bully on SSN???

In their round up of morning papers, SSN report that one of the rags has a"Barba: I'm Off!" story.

stating that he has thrown spurs into turmoil by asking to leave if any big club makes an offer.

Gutter press seem to be really turning the screw on this one.

If this is true i would gladly Danny (or was it Rod?) Wallace that mo' fo'

Berbatov has said many times now that he's staying and I believe him.

I strongly doubt there will be any quotes from him in that article.

As much as I hate to say it and hope it does not come to pass, but it is unlikely Berby will be plying his trade at WHL next season. I fear he will probably go in the summer. Having said that, I agree with your comments about the press. They certainly don't help.

Although most peope would rather not think about it I wonder how much would be required to soften the blow. 25-30m?

I'm fed up of getting these steppin' stone mutha fuckas, i would gladly teach him a lesson an let him rot for three years. how can you sign a five year deal and want to leave after 18 months thinking you've contributed to that team.

If true

if he does leave like this lets hope the grass is dead on the other side (ie, not greener)

I like your picture. IF Larry David followed "soccer" there is no doubt he would be a Spurs fan...

apparent quotes from Dantchev to ths Scum

"I have already spoken to the Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, and told him that if a club that corresponds to Dimitar's class and ambition comes in with an offer that suits his current club in January he would like to be allowed to go," Emil Dantchev told the Sun.
"Fans must understand that Dimitar is 27 next month and time is running out for him to play for a club that can match his ambition. "
