Does anyone still rate Walker?

I've always thought he was poor. No footballing brain. Poor positioning, no end product when going forward. IMO just a very poor footballer. An athlete yes but never should be a footballer. IMO it amazes me he plays professionally tbh.

Know I'm in the minority and for some reason he is rated by a lot of spurs fans and even recently been linked to Man U for £20m!! So maybe it's just be but I really think he's crap after today's appalling performance I was wondering if anyone actually still rates him?!

I think if we had bought Naughton's footballing brain and Walker's athleticism we would have had a remarkable fullback.

In fairness to Walker I think he is still trying to figure out where he is at the moment and still not back to a 100% on how to play the position. He was out a LONG time. There was one moment I remember clearly for today when a ball spilled out to the corner flag and Walker was very hesitant to go for it, Lamela yelled at him to get it and raised his arms up, and Walker got there easily. He just isn't full of confidence and isn't totally assured in his position and capabilities yet.

One very important thing to note is that he missed the entire preseason and training at the start of the season so it's possible he is still adapting not only to Poch's tactics and philosophy but also the physical demands.

He has been missing for one and half years due to injuries, anyone expecting him to come back like the one of the best RB's in the PL straight away is an idiot

He needs time to get back in to shape.

Look at Messi he was out for a while and people were saying he has fallen off the cliff and doesnt look the same player. Ever since the real sociedad match he has got some form and looks like the greatest player in the world again

He's not young anymore. Regardless of injuries one thing you can't teach is a footballing brain. The bloke ain't got it.

He's crossing and decision making is just laughable.

I have come to the conclusion that unfortunately he is as intelligent as he looks, which I wasn't previously sure was possible.

He doesn't think. He's an instinctive, reactive player. He's too much of a liablity at the back, if he's not making up for it when he attacks, and since he's come back, he hasn't offered anything when in possession.

Those of us who have played at a reasonable standard, which I'm sure there are many have more talent than him. I actually believe that! He's a fit lad granted and quick but never a footballer IMO.

Loads of us have played with and against much better right backs than him. I'm 100% sure of that. He's very lucky he was picked up as a young player at sheff united. Probably because he was a bit bigger and quicker at a young age. Exactly the reason why English football has been in the duldrums for so long. Hopefully we don't pick the wrong kids anymore. We will see on that but from what I hear and see I am hopeful.

Why does he play for THFC I really don't know. Appalling.

Totally agree and was going to post something similar.

People seem to forget just how much football he has missed over the last couple of years.

If DeAndre Yedlin is as good as reports suggest then it may not be a problem next season. He'll certainly be under pressure from the competition that's for sure.

I really value and like walker, but I just wish he would cross it more instead of cutting back into a short inward pass.

He's a good player, but I feel that we expect him to be a great one. I think he's been hampered by a couple of injuries and that he had a massive amount of expectation on him after his first season, where he truly looked quality.

He's got the physical attributes in abundance, strong and quick. He's also got some of the mental attributes in his desire and determination. I like him for that. He's let down by a lack of a footballing brain. He defends and attacks stupidly at times and it means he's at his best when he's either using his pace and strength to hassle and chase down players, or when bombing forward and linking up with attackers. Once he gets back he'll lose sight of his man, or get done easily, and when he's all the way up top he just doesn't know what to do with the ball, nor does he have the technical ability to take his man on or hit a good enough ball into the box.

In summary, a good player, and I do rate him. He's probably the best we can get outside of taking a gamble on a foreigner, or waiting for a youngster like Yedlin to turn up good, or paying a lot of money for someone like Coleman, who has his faults as well even if he's a better player.

Full backs are very strange these days. You rarely come across world class full backs now and it's because of how the game has changed. It's the probably the position of the pitch I have least concers over. Every position is important, but other positions have more serious consequences if you don't have the right personnel. I'm happy enough with Walker for now and think there's more pressing issues to be concerned with.

He was utterly abysmal today but im still willing to stick by him. Unfortunately our other options are Vlad or Dier so ill take Kyle thank you very much.

he is not a bad player, but he is an accident waiting to happen. Some of his decision making is just ridiculous.

The education of Kyle Walker

1. Look at the left back's feet.
2. Push the ball past him
3. Run past him like a samelar hound
4. Pretend to cross but dont.
5. Pass to nearest teammate.
6. Repeat

Can't wait for serious competition for him. Happy to have him around but Rose is this season our best full back.Walker is like a machine. Only has 4-6 moves and he does ist always again and it isn't very effective.

Fredericks, Yedlin and Walker-Peters deserve at least a chance.
