Mauricio Pochettino always takes a pragmatic view of results good or bad and Eric Dier followed that reflective path after firing us to our sixth win in eight matches - matching our best start to a Premier League season.

Tell you what, we were playing a championship team in disguise and struggled for 90 minutes to break them down. Forget the injuries we were suffering, we are playing crap football at the moment and are succinct to Man U under van gaal’ s regime. We are clearly not equipped to fight on 4 fronts and will not be for a long time to come, so see if we panick in the January transfer window.Sorry but i’m always the pessimist with my beloved Spurs.

Weare two points off top, have already beaten United, we didn't struggle to break Cardiff down we couldn't convert chances that we did create. There's a difference. I'd rather win playing crap than lose playing well. I do agree though that we have to prioritise. league Cup and top 4, or League cup and Europa League. I don't see it any other way. But we can realistically achieve two pieces of silverware this year.

@cliff jones what did I say that was incorrect? Aginst Cardiff we had 76% possession, 19 shots, 7 on target. These are not the stats that suggest problems with breaking someone down. It does indicate wastfeulness and some great goalkeeping (Sanchez) but that is a different story altogether.

This is definitely a case of numbers lying. Whilst we had more chances and should have scored more, Cardiff cos easily have scored 2. For most of the game we were playing shit. 4 or 5 passes and we were either losing the ball or panicking. We let Cardiff into the gene after we scored and in all honesty we looked no better then Cardiff. The score line did not flatter Cardiff in terms of what was on display.

I didn't suggest that Cardiff couldn't have scored, what I was trying to prove was that we didn't actually have that much of a problem going into their box. And that essentially is what breaking a team down means. I also didn't suggest that we played great, again I only said that we did break them down.
