I know hes a good player, but his last 3 or 4 performances have been shite. Bad touches, losing the ball often. Generally pussyfooting around. I hope he knuckles down and starts producing again.

Hes always been like that for as long as I've seen him play. But his goals masked his very obvious weaknesses in games. Early this season he wasnt scoring, so he looked very poor and I was one of his harshest critics. However, hes been socring important goals for us again lately so for now I'm shutting up my criticisms of him

Mate, he's young and still learning his trade. There will be games, and series of games, where he won't play to the standard we know he can. You can't expect consistency after just 15 months in the Premier League.

Same with you. You've been on this site just slightly longer than Dele has been at Spurs. Some of your threads have an immediate impact. Sometimes, however, I read what you've posted, shake my head and just wish you'd knuckle down and start producing again...

This post, for instance. It's good enough to get me to reply, but you really could have asked for him to be dropped for a few weeks to really get people going.

6.5 out of 10.

Nothing really came off for him today.

His first time lay off to son was great but it was always going to be offside

Tried too many flash tricks and failed to actually influence the game

Beat thing he did was a long range shot which to be fair their keeper always had covered

Had a poor game but so did our entire front line

I only really think Lloris, Vertonghen and possibly Wanyama and good games today

Spot on. He needs to work on some of the basics, sometimes he looks like hes coasting too much. He has to pull his weight as well as scoring important goals. Because you cant score everygame.

Its this that winds me up. When its a tough game, theres no need for it. Just concentrate on the basics.

He has to develop yes, but he has what you can't teach. That ability to know when and where to be is gold.

I disagree, it's part of who he is. If you take away stuff like that you take away some of the unpredictable that makes him stand out.

He scored but thought he was really poor the other day. The countless attempts of nutmegs are not needed and should be left on the training pitch. I don't mind him taking risks with audacious goal attempts or through balls and such but in general play I really wish he'd keep it more simple and retain possession better. He's starting to look quite erratic.

His skied effort early in the game was so bad. He is at his best when he doesn't have any time to think. I think his instincts are good, but his footballing brain isn't all that.

I rate him though, he has that something about him as a player

We need to remember that Dele is only 20 and not the finished article. We can clearly see the talent but young players can have dips in form.

Just out of interest, I was comparing his PL record with Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

By the end of the season in which Lampard turned 21, he had scored 10 goals in 84 Premier League appearances for West Ham (inc previous seasons).

When Gerrard turned 21 in 2001, he had scored 8 goals in 74 PL appearances for Liverpool.

Dele has scored 14 PL goals in 49 appearances for us and he still has up to 21 matches to go.

not sure if itk or common knowledge, hertyid: He was very angry when he was taken off on Sunday. Said after the game he knows he's been playing poorly, he's as frustrated as anyone. But he still gets in those areas and makes those runs, and scores important goals. Difficult second season but vital player for us.

I see no one else in our squad that deserves a place in the starting 11 every week in Dele's role than Dele.

He gets in goal scoring situations more often than even Kane. He's going and has a lot to learn. He can only learn that playing week in week out.

Totally understand he's still young and it's fantastic to have a 20 year old with such ability but it's not really the dip in form that's my problem, my annoyances come from parts of his game that shouldn't be there regardless. Ok the somewhat easy goal scoring chances he tends to miss can be frustrating but on the other hand he does get his share of goals still and I can take a few misses like that, everything in his mind is correct with such situations but he's just been unable to execute. He shouldn't even be thinking about nutmegging (for instance) players the amount of times he does though and that's something a player should know whether they're 30 or 18, there are times and places for it. It's just a really frustrating and unnecessary way for a player to lose possession numerous times. Do it in the final third of the pitch where in doing so you really gain an advantage at goal or you have no other easy option, not when we're trying to build something or retain possession.
