It's utterly ridiculous. We've had the whole summer and yet again we are in a position where our strength in depth is embarrassing. Amazed Poch stands for it.
How far can we expect "depth" to go before you get to backups and youth? Being without (players of the quality of) Son and Dele at the same time would hurt any team, but we can still field Lamela, Eriksen and Lucas behind Kane or Lucas and Lamela either side of Kane with Eriksen in a CM3/floating or Lucas alongside H with Eriksen or Lamela at no.10 and a strong midfield behind. Being able to more than adequately cover two absentees in a single position is surely an indication of depth rather than showcasing an "embarrassing" lack of it?

I also know from elsewhere on the forum that you (and I as it happens) remain positive about the prospect of us signing Lo Celso, so, even better!

For every ‘we flog the same players over and over’ argument there’s an equal and opposite ‘yes but more minutes could be given to Llorente, Nkoudou, Wanyama’ argument. These guys may not be top class, but if they each got ten starts a season, then the side is hardly going to fall apart, it’s not as if they’re awful Mir is it as if the other ten players on the pitch become this because the eleventh player isn’t as good.

If we are going to rely on LLorente, Nkoudou or Wanyama as back up to injuries then that 27 points difference of last season could get even wider. Numbers in depth doesn't mean quality in depth. We have some great youngsters coming through but they're not ready for regular 1st team games and probably not for another couple of seasons if they make the grade.

Think we are on serious trouble next season. As we seen our lack of depth almost cost us 4th last season. Our squad is no stronger, possibly weaker. I dont understand why eriksen situation hasnt been sorted so that will leave Toby, Jan & Eirksen on last year of contract. Almost 150mil of talent leaving for free. What is their incentive to play, surely they will not be committed. Crazy secaniro

He’s surely in serious trouble if we get 2 of the 4. Let’s say it’s Dybala and Lo Celso in a 4231 imo it would be.

Son Dybala ?
Kane

He’d basically be battling with Lo Celso Moura lamela for that place. Let alone what might happen with Eriksen.

Poch has always been loathed to break up the Dele/Kane partnership. The only players I see destabilising it would be Dybala or Coutinho if we sign them.

I've moved this in here after deleting a couple of posts referencing/talking about ITK & transfers.

There has been NO transfer link that I'm aware of its just been put in here for a couple of days to save more work.
