It means his next competitive game could be England's Euro 2016 opener against Russia in Marseille on 11 June, if selected.

Real shame he will miss the remainder of the season because he has been terrific, however the punishment is a fair one & hopefully he'll learn to focus his aggression in making count on the scoreboard.

I can possibly see Mason, or Chadli being the ones to fill, as opposed to Son or Njie. Son hasn't quite demonstrated the penetrative part of his game, whereas someone like Mason likes to push forward & run beyond the frontman.

I still believe that we can finish the season strong & the players will be able to use this season to develop their learning curve.

I agree,Mason all day long for me... I reckon he could do some real damage. However I think Poch will probably play chadli on the left and move eriksen to no 10

Since I don't think it's going to change which team wins the league might now be a good time to give Onomah a few games. He's shown he's capable without having more than a bit part, if we could find another player who can play a full part in the squad next season that could be a big plus for us. If he has a stinker against Chelsea I'd imagine we'll have players on the bench who can take over.

We haven't even secured 4th place yet... so lets just put best team out against Chelsea and beat them... Then if Leicester win, we have some room to play the likes of Onomah, if not it is still game on for the title.

I know that most of you hate it when someone on here refers to our team as being 'Spursy'. And in many ways, I would like to think that we have properly moved on from this negative mindset. However I am wondering now whether all of those other 'Spursy' moments over the last 30 or so years aren't just leading up to one big 'Spursy' event. Like after all this, we manage to completely capitulate and finish 5th. Spursy-ageddon or Something. Nahh, surely not.

I'm sorry but to be banned for the rest of the season for a slight punch to the gut is absolutely outrageous! I've seen two footed challenges that have broken ankles and ligaments get only two match bans!

Does seem a bit OTT. The irony is that if he had thrown himself to the ground when Yakub shoved him in the back (moments before the 'punch') he might have won a pen (or might have been outside the box - not sure). He's lashed out a few times, usually over nothing, and he needs to learn quick how to channel his reaction. He's not in League 1 any more but under the microscope for every minute he plays.

I'd like to see Son given a run in the central role. I think that's the position he'll prove most effective.

Ffs guys. It's not how hard you hit someone that determines the punishment.

YOU CAN'T FUCKING HIT PEOPLE.

That's the rules.
The point is that players hit eachother all the time and get away with it. There's no real consistency.

I've said it before - show me an example of a player that threw a deliberate punch, was caught on camera and wasn't punished.
Other than Torres trying to scratch Vertonghend eye out a few years ago. We all remember that.

And just because players may get away with it doesn't mean they should.
I'm happy for our players to be aggressive but i not want our players punching people.
If they do that they get sent off and/or banned.
That's no help to the cause.

The boy has massively let himself down, but what is done is done. Hopefully he'll go on some anger management course in the summer and make amends next season.

He has let himself, the club and the fans down. He is young and will learn that when players wind you up not to react. Poch will have a quiet word in his ear and give him a bit of advice. Yes it is a shame Dele will miss the rest of the season but he will come back next season better and hopefully not as volatile.

I think the extreme reactions are a bit much either way chaps. He is an idiot for punching someone (however feeble a punch it was) but he hasn't let us all down. He is a kid exceeding all expectation who made a mistake.

Silly thing to do. Correct punishment applied. Lets hope he learns. Now we all move on.

I agree, but if we somehow don't qualify for The Champions League, some fans will use him as a scapegoat.

Well there are plenty of examples of players leaving an arm in when they go for a header, or leave something on a player after a challenge. All are more damaging than a little punch that Yacob didn't even acknowledge himself. Did the challenge that cost Vertonghen a couple of months not prove more impactful for example?

I just dont see the consistency is all. Fair play to Dele Alli for accepting the punishment though. I hope he doesn't lose that aggression but he just needs to keep it under control.

The funny thing is I dont think Alli has been at the top of his game of late anyway so I'm not sure it will make such a big impact. We'll finish in the top 3 anyway I'm sure.

Credit to Yacob and Pulis for not pointing the finger at him, when they could have easily done so. Wenger would have pointed the finger at him definitely.

I don't disagree many players do this consistently. But there's a fine line between deliberate and accident which is why many get away with it.
Alli 1000% deliberately punched someone. If the referee saw it he'd have got a red. It's an automatic red card and 3 match suspension for punching players.
If he swung for him and missed entirely, he's still swung and the punishment is the same.

I don't want players getting off with things because others have. I want them all punished and trial by replay is the perfect way of doing it.

Yeh it was stupid, but I don't give a shit. He needs to learn the art of dirty tackling, below I have highlighted some techniques already used by some seasoned pro's.

The h jump= Jumping for a header with your knee raised, target area is the kidneys or liver (goalkeepers do this already, so nothing wrong with it)
Forearm jump= Using arm for elevation, target area face or neck (this technique has to be timed correctly, and no looking at opponent before executing or else you get done for intent. A Carroll's favourite )
Steamroller tackle= Using too much pace whilst entering a tackle, target area legs with your knee or face with an open hand (J Milner favourite)
The windmill= Flailing arms whilst protecting the ball when dribbling, target area face (Dembele's favourite)

Any other suggestions are welcome, remember no eye gouging and no headbutting.
