Is our answer to this position Younes Kaboul?
he reminds me of a more mobile huddlestone with a terrific shot and pace and strengh and a tackling ability? hes also terrific in the air?
And its also his position he plays best in?according to a french mate of mine who supported auxerre
anyone with me?

No, at least not yet.

I think the only player that could be more than half decent in that position would be ledders. I think everyone else would just be found out.

To be honest I dont believe in this defensive midfielder lark, when there are 4 in midfield. Sure, one can be mroe defensive minded, but the central two need to form a partnership, and I dont think Zokora plays that well with anyone. He is not commanding enough, nor is any other of the central midfielders, and I think Kaboul would have the same problems.

Tainio is the only one I think who is intuitive enough to take up good positionings - he knows when to move up, press, or drop off, but I dont think anyone convinces me in that position.

I think the biggest problem is that the DM role needs disciplined play. Something that Hollywood seems to lack at the moment.

Tend to agree with you plus it doesn't seam to produce football that is nice to watch .

Someone in the Flamini mould would do me. Basically TT with a bit more ability. That type of player suits the 4 in midfield. When you play with 3 a la Chelski then you need an out and out DM eg Makelele.

I noticed that Ramos tried Kaboul in the DM role as a substitute in one game...yet he was absolutely awful once he had come on. Anybody remember the game?

no please no, lets wait to the summer and go and buy quality midfielders, they dont have to be labelled as dm, just good all round players that can complement the team

no, his distribution & positioning needs work, and DM is a very disciplined role.

I play him in there for my fm team and on pro evo! But in reality I think hes not smart enough to play there, nor is anyone else really bar maybe O Hara or Taino, bu they both lack ability.
