By the end of this window five of the starting XI who accumulated a record points haul in 16/17 could be gone. That might start to provoke questioning of whether the team has been improved over the past three years.

That's probably why we're making radical changes, because we're going backwards.

Rose has stated a few times that he is an unhappy footballer because of the racial situation that some footballers face both in the PL, in the CL and playing for England.

I thought that last season was one of his very best, and i hope that he finds another club quickly as he deserves to remain a PL player. A true professional who will be sadly missed.

It would be so Spurs to finally fix our midfield and simultaneously leave us woefully short at left back.
woefully short. Davies has just signed a new contract, Verts can play there and Sess is coming in apparently. Not too shabby

Hope he doesn’t go to United! Urgh. Wish him all the best but I am worried about our strength in depth.

Jan isn't a left back, and Sessegnon hasn't signed. Which leaves Davies as our only left back, and he's decent at best. We rely on our full backs bombing on and joining the attack.

Of course Jan isn't a LB, but can play there and is more than competent - ask Borussia. And the fact that Danny SEEMS to be leaving can mean that Sess has PROBABLY signed or is very close.

Well, let's hope you're right. If Toby is off then we shouldn't be needing to use Jan at LB.

Full back has been such a fundamental part of our play over the last 2-3 seasons and it's a real concern that we'd be weakened in those areas. Oftentimes it's our only source of width. Unless there's a dramatic improvement in Aurier, I just don't see him stepping up to own that role. He's too much of a headless chicken at times. And Foyth doesn't look like a full back to me and has potential to be a great centre-half.

At left back, Davies is a great guy and a solid defender, but lacks the cutting edge and dynamism of Rose. And I have concerns that Sessegnon (if we get him) would be the reverse of that - decent attacking dynamism but not great in the tackle or basic defensive solidity.

Interesting times. If we're under performing at full back, it's such an easy opposition tactic to target that weakness. And that issue isn't necessarily resolved if we play a different formation (3 at the back or whatever).

From the time he was talking about having to "google a players name" says to me he either wanted out or was trying to manoeuvre a move. Then he was saying that the club is not giving contracts to 30 year olds or words to that effect .
Now I have never heard the club saying they don't give contracts to 30 year old and over and he has just said this to agitate things.
Witness the contract offer to Llorente who is 35 years old .
Now I know that for a period we targeted younger players and Rose being one of them along with walker and these were for future development and this plan proved good for the club I.E walker/Rose/Lennon.
Also notable 30 years or older signings Crouch/Defoe the second time/ Sherringham the second time /all about the 30year old age scale.
There have been many others but I don't believe the club has ignored the signing of 30 year old or over players.
It is just one more thing in the Rose mind or world that he perceives or imagines or as I think he is just making an atmosphere that makes it hard for the club to keep him.
As much as I have enjoyed him as a player I now see him as an unsettling influence and the club would be better off without him even tho he is going to be hard to replace.

Make no mistake Rose wants out and his shenanigans are so that he can say "look at what the club have done they have pushed me out" in fact his actions are all but saying "get me out of here " quite sneaky and crafty to my eyes .
