No, he is a man trying to bring success to this club, he probably has faults some fans believe he has due to sacking of certain managers. Show me a man without any faults and i will call him a man of lies.

Wow, the papers are dragging up all the old ex-players, aren't they?

BTW, is Ferdinand still at the club? I understand him and TS are going to be on SKY on Sunday; be interesting, if employed by us still, what Ferdinand says.

It's funny really. He appointed AVB who the fans overwelmingly wanted who was a failure but hire Redknapp who most of our fans didn't want who has been our most successful manager of recent years.

Whoever we get in next must know how to keep his mouth shut, that's for sure! Levy has made it abundantly clear that he is not a man to be trifled with!

Just wish he was the man to employ a decent manager that can match his ambition to make this club great again!

I didn't want AVB. He was a laughing stock up the road and showed us exactly why.
Our two best managers in this century have both been fall back plans.

Not this nonsense again. What a meaningless phrase. Let's get behind the club and the next actual appointment.

"Football Man"... a phrase used a lot but never quantified. Is that essentially someone who's played the game, or someone who's obsessed by it and has no time for these other fancy dan antics?

In that case good... our chairman can continue to being objectionable about running a business, and making sure we can keep touch with the oligarchs.

oh no! He probably doesn't know about giving 110%. He may not bleed lillywhite. He must somehow be a lesser person for not talking footballing nonsense.

And so to follow suit, he should appoint Benitez who the fans don't want but who will be a huge success :p

Yes, it's a non-story. Everyone knows Levy is more of a business man than anything else, but top level football is just that - business, and big business at that.
The question is, will he find the right manager to trust with the footballing part of the THFC business, and will he trust him enough to let him buy and build while having a bit of patience. If we start signing players before getting a manager in I will begin to doubt whether Levy is really capable of leaving the football part to others. I suppose Baldini is a "football man", but he should only buy/sell players if the manager consents.

I think the 'issue' is how much Levy trusts the people he appoints. He didn't trust Redknapp with transfers, got bitten by Arnesen, spent a fortune with Comolli etc.. He put a lot of faith in AVB with no return and turned to Sherwood in an emergency. Baldini is the 'football man' and Levy is now looking for a Head Coach. I hope the new appointment gains Levy's trust and enables him to butt out a bit. I can't remember anybody criticising Levy's football credentials when he signed Van Der Vaart for a song though.

in truth clive allen was at spurs i believe for less than two years and famously scored 49 goals in one season but to me he is not a spurs stalwart by that i mean someone who has spurs in their heart ala mabbut;ardiles;roberts;hazzard;perryman;chivers;jones obviously i could go on but these players have one thing in common i never heard any of them say a word to the detriment of spurs players or management
the likes of allen and quite a few more who only played for us a short time
as in j.redknapp;scales.and a few more seem to have there heart with some other team and take great joy in putting the boot in
i say daniel with poch has at last got it right and when we are playing with style skill and effect these planks will be gutted but believe me they will move on to some other team to pick holes in because that is what these type of characters do spout negativity and gennerally be downbeat and destructive

I was ambivilent about both appointments. I think the last managerial appointments that I really wanted to happen at the time were Glenn Hoddle and George Graham (please forgive me).

Just to be fair to Clive Allen, it was 4 seasons he played for Spurs, and he also worked for the club for around 8 years in a variety of coaching roles. 12 years associated with the club I think would qualify him as Stalwart surely? Just as Sherwood has 10 years at Spurs (4 as a player and 6 in coaching roles). I interpreted Allen's comments as concern for the club rather than goading, and for that matter I've not heard anything from Jamie Redknapp putting the boot in per se - although obviously he continually briefed in favour of his father when he was managing.

Levy is good on the business side, he just needs someone he can trust to look after football affairs. It's a shame Frank Arnesen left. I wonder if he is happy at Chelsea? He could have run the show at Spurs rather than accepting a bit-part role there.

His dad was Les Allen, his cousin paul allen - spurs is in his blood.
I thought he was very harshly treated when he was booted out after AVB was appointed.
We should try to keep some continuity this time and not sack Ramsey and Freund just for the sake of it.

Arnesen left Chelsea years ago-think he is in Russia now
