Fair enough, but there's still not a chance Poch would agree to that.

No, there's not. But if you read the article it seems more like the journo if fusing two separate stories together to flesh his article out.

Shitty journalism, but there could still be something to Ceballos agreeing to come after speaking to Poch.

There no way Poch said the 40 games comment.

AS are just putting a positive spin on it from their biased POV. As in, from a Madrid perspective, he wants to go to Spurs as he’s going to get lots of guaranteed games.

IMO one of our biggest problems last season was Alli. So many games he was a passenger almost. Created nothing, no goal threat. Just fancy flicks. You aren’t going to win titles with a player like that in that type of form.

When Alli is on form he’s fantastic but last season that was rare. If we can get players in to put pressure on Alli that would be great. He needs a kick up the arse, and needs proper competition for places. Maybe Ceballos can provide that?

I just don't buy the 'guaranteed 40 games' line. I mean, what if he doesn't adapt to the PL? does he still get 40 games?

With Poch's hardworking squad ethos, there's no way he makes a guarantee like that. and Wink's TS interview, he was saying it's hard to get a starting place, and even harder to keep it.

Totally agree. Alli was carrying some niggles and also was in the comfort zone. He was always going to level out as other teams worked him out. However, does he have it in him to improve again ? Im not so sure.

Dele Alli was not our biggest problem how on earth did you come to that conclusion? By far our biggest problem was K Trippier. You mentioned Dele Alli flicks he hasn't changed his always played that way when they come off people go wildlife.

That isn't remotely comparable.
Not comparable but to hold something we haven't done in the past as to an indicator as to what we will do in the future isn't really a good indicator either. Sceptical myself that Poch would give Ceballos a game time assurance but maybe he really wants him and it's the only way to convince him to come to us.

Doubt Ceballos will be very interested in going on a one season loan without some assurance he will be playing.

Also we have never pulled off a loan before from RM though we linked every window with loan moves for some players from RM so maybe this is the summer where we break some of our own rules.

I said one of our biggest problems and yes he was, if you think he wasn’t by and large poor last season not much else I can say.

It will be more along the lines of, you'll be an integral member of the first team squad, and if you put in the work and are good enough then game time wont be an issue. No way is he promising 40 games as a figure, goes against everything we know about him.

Agree 100%!

I said the same about Dele earlier this morning in another thread

I think the 40 games thing is in relation to an interview he gave where he said he'd like to play 40 games next year and not just sit on the sidelines. I just saw the headline...never read it.

I doubt 40 would be agreed as a figure, more likely that he will be a regular first team player or that that is the intention.

Was impressed with what I saw of Ceballos in the U21 tournament. IMO, International football is always a cobbled together affair with a bunch of largely unfamiliar players trying to work as a team. What I liked about Cebellos was that he was constantly finding nice passes, without the deeper understanding of where a player is likely to be which comes from regular club football and daily training. He plays 'with his head up' (pardon the cliche), but it does indicate that he can adapt quickly to what's going on around him, and make good decisions based on what he sees. Good signing if we can get it done.
