HAPPE OR SAD Leyton Orient reject £300k Tottenham offer for Leicester and Norwich target Dan Happe

LEYTON ORIENT have rejected a £300,000 offer from Tottenham for sought after centre-back Dan Happe.

The 20-year-old defender is also wanted by Leicester City, Leeds and newly-promoted Norwich.

Happe played an integral role in returning the O's to the Football League last season.

It was his breakthrough campaign in senior football and such impressive performances caught the attention of Champions League finalists Spurs.

An initial offer of £300,000 plus add-ons was rebuffed by Orient who are holding out for a higher fee.

Happe, who's been compared to Leicester's Harry Maguire, has risen through the ranks at Brisbane Road.

But with only one year remaining on his contract in East London, the Os are resigned to selling one of their prize assets.

Orient will hope to bring the youngster back on loan for a season once a deal is struck.

Buy him and loan him back for a couple of seasons - Orient deserve to keep their best player, and this might be the only way they can.

If he turns out to be a decent player it'll be win/win.

Must say I’ve seen a fair bit of Orient but this kid hasn’t exactly caught my eye. Give them 500k and loan him back, can’t go wrong.

A 20 year old non-league defender, doesn't sound that appealing?

I hear your point but it's not that long ago that Jamie 'The Rat' Vardy was a non-league player.

Drogba hadn't even signed pro contract until he was 21.

Ian Wright was playing for Greenwich Borough until he was 22 & snapped up by Palace.

As I said, I do hear your point but there's many a player that went unnoticed before.

Agreed , I actually think Marvin Ekpiteta is better!
I don't think I've really been that impressed with any Orient individual player since Moses Adebajo (spelling?). If Happe has impressed the scouts then give him a chance, why not?

His first full season , as a pro, got a lot to learn . It’s all about the potential at the mo.
