Sorry did you think Berbatov would stay? Idiots on here!
On friday we had Darren bent not scoring, Berbatov disrupting the squad and no other strikers. Now we've got rid of Berbatov (for £30m) Signed a quality Target man and got a 3rd striker, who started for Man Utd vs Newcastle.
So yeah, not too bad. Grow up.

The whole of the footballing world looks on and sees Man U take our best player (regardless of his influence/inevitable departure) and sees us take one of their youngsters to groom for their benefit. We just made a statement to the world that we have no intention or hope of competing at the highest level. You can understand why most people aren't feeling too positive

I think it will be a wait and see scenario for me now.

I think the board did well as Man U are well known for not being held to ransom over a price and have now got over £30 million for a player who didn't want to stay with us. I'm gutted to say that but its a fact and we have to deal with it.

I'm sure we tried to look at a number of strikers during the day to replace him which was why the deal didn't go through until so late and unfortunatley they never happened for whatever reason (they didn't want to sign, clubs didnt want to sell etc..)

Campbell may have been a late part of the deal. All i really know is that he scored a lot for Hull last season but thats it. Though we have him on loan so if he doesnt do the job then United can have him back and if he does well then we'll have got ourselves a good deal.

Everrything is on what ifs and I've decided to think in the positive and that Pav and Bent could form a potent partnership with a young and energetic Campbell as back up with Gio adjusting to the Prem maybe playing out wide left with the view to moving him into the hole behind the striker.

Corluka to cover at RB for now in Huttons absence and then to either provide cover for King or woodgate but may also be the guy to fill the DM role???

And with a nice bit of transfer budget left to either spend the time now looking for someone to buy in January or fro Ramos to use to bulk up his money for next season.

Come on guys, lets get behind the club. Levy was doing what he thought was right. Even Beratov was doing what he thought was right. At the end of it we all think we know whats right and they always end up being different views from each others. We can't go back now, lets move forward, we always have and always will, and come the 15th I'll be standing in foront of my seat cheering the boys on until the end (or 20 minutes if we're 3-0 down )

We will be lucky to finish mid table this season, our strikers are poor. Pav is the man that needs 5 chances to score 1 and has been playing in the mighty Russian League. Campbell is a championship player but you summed it up the best. Bent is exactly what his name suggests.

Unfortunately many of our fans are all Businessmen and will be happy as "we got a good price".

Now i know who will be playing at Tottenham this season, i will get the name Profit on the back of the shirt.

Which compares very favourably with the 8 or 9 Berbatov and Defoe needed in 2006-2007 (and those are real figures, not invented ones). In fact, one from four or five is pretty damned good; only the likes of RvN and Henry do much better. Bent's conversion rate last season was quite as good as Berbatov's.

I'm so glad you have seen sufficient of Campbell to dismiss him out of hand—but then, you seem perfectly happy to make your pronouncements from a position of total ignorance, don't you?

Why not start living up to your name and showing some support for our players instead of squealing like a stuck pig?

I personally can't believe they only signed 10 players. And what is more that they are all internationals at some level. How fucking dare they.

[Gomes, Sanchez, Bentley, Dos Santos, Corluka, Modric, Pavlyuchenko, Campbell (loan), Mpoku, Bostock.]

 Hmmm these threads are all very similar. I may lock them all together in one big ****y mess and brand it "Moany ****s Who Are More Short Sighted Than My Nan". But that would be out of order. So instead I'll just take the piss out of all the people moaning because they've got sand in their vagina.

I don't think it would be out of order at all. In fact, if I still possessed my RR powers I'd have done it some time ago.

I was listening to virgin radio on monday and christian o'connell was saying how our 1-1 draw was a good result and russ williams should be happy, and how you never meet a happy spurs fan

tis true

its scary how many "supporters" we have who are just doom mongers and critcise everything the club does, where are they on days like 24/02/2008

That will be the mighty Russian league that currently boosts the Uefa Cup and Supercup holders, and whoose national team reached the last 4 of the Euros...? :stupid:

I agree with everything you said apart from the bits inbetween the words "Well" and "Tony". I think this whole Berbatov saga wasn't just about getting the most money out of Man U it was about making this transfer as difficult for them as possible. I know that ultimately they got their man but we sure made them pay for it.

In future Man U and Liverpool will think twice before going for our big name players or at least the way they go about it. It cost them both a few million quid extra for the way they handled the transfer whether they can afford it or not that is still a fair ammount of money. I expect we have made it clear to them both that next time we will report them to the FA.

We know both RK and DB had there heart set on the clubs that they went to, it's not as simple as just saying "Lets just sell him to Milan" it just doesn't work like that.

Also Levy is not trying to raise money for the PLC, he is raising it for re-investment in the football club. Don't forget we don't have someone to pour millions of quid into the club which is why we need an astute business man to run the club effectively.

Lets be clear on this one, the "villians" are Man U, that arrogant tosspot Fergie and DB, not Levy.

:bs:

On several counts. The brinkmanship should have been done before the season starts - we should have had 4-6 points now not one! If the money is for re-investing in the club we can't do that as it was too late. Jan is generally a shite window and it will be/already is to late for this year. Yet another season 'in transition'.

Oh yeah and the CL four are not that worried - having watched us cut off our own nose to spite our face!

Great stuff!

I think next time we will be more thorough in our evidence collecting and make sure we have a watertight case against them.

The trouble is with Levy is that he has brought players that are so good that bigger clubs want them, I don't remember us really having that problem before Levy came along.

Maybe Spurs have always been a "feeder club" but have had nothing worth buying?

Hit the nail on the head I reckon.

Levy didn't turn spurs into a feeder club, it's just before Levy came along none of our players were good enough for the top teams (with the exception of Sheringham and Klinsmann).

I am envious of Villa's ability to keep Barry though. Does anyone know if he put in an official transfer request?

And a league so weak that those same UEFA and supercup holders are currently 7th in the table after 19/20 games.

Everyone goes on about KJH's goals for Ajax but the Russian league is much better than the Dutch league. Remind me who was topscorer in Russia the past two seasons?

I don't wanna side with the apologists for everything that Spurs do. It's nonsense to keep on saying that everything is going to plan when clearly it isn't. But don't knock players before they even have a chance to step on the pitch. Particularly ones you've barely seen play.

How the fuck can brinkmanship be done before the season starts when United hadn't even approached the club about Berbatov then and never admitted they were interested.
FFS how short is your memory? Man Utd did absolutely nothing until Levy went on the attack and reported them to the Prem, have you forgotten that? do you like every toss pot expert on tele believe United began negotiating early in the window?
As for reinvesting the money did we or did we not spend 60 or 70 million pounds during this window.

I'm ny no means sickeningly optimistic, but why make these negative statements so rashly?

You've already written off all 3 strikers, 2 of which have never played a game for us. How can you possibly predict their success? And why would you bother to try, when we'll find out how good they can potentially be in a fortnight anyway.

Also, stop blaming Levy, or Comolli. Nobody is upset at the signings we did make, and Levy has already said he wanted more. You can't bag every single transfer target.

Stop being whinging pussies. At least until we're relegated.

There is a statement on the website now - I for one feel dissapointed but that is mainly due to all the hype. In the end we have had a relatively successful window - injuries may or may not prove this to be wrong.

They didn't do anything different to us, It's just that the bin dippers couldn't come up with the required sum, Man USA could.

They also got very lucky that Barry has actually been incredibly professional about this. He must have been disappointed not to get the move but he;s getting on with the job. Keane and Berba were never going to do this.
