Uefa need to change the CL and Uefa cup.

Its stupid that the fourth best team in England plays in a 'champions' league. When was the last time Liverpool even came close to being champions of England?

Personally I can't see why Uefa changed everything in the first place. The European Cup was fine when it was just the champions from each nation. This made competitions like the Cup Winners Cup and Uefa Cup interesting as well because each season you knew that either Real Madrid or Barcelona, Juventus, Inter, Lazio or AC, etc., were going to be in it.

Apart from this season the Uefa Cup has been a competition for second rate teams not good enough for the Champions League and teams to rubbish to get past the CL group stage.

You are absolutely right about the Champions League drop outs needing to be changed. The CL must be the only tournament in the world that rewards you for not being good enough.

I'd like to see a return to the top two teams getting in the European Cup and the next few places for the Uefa Cup. At least if a team finishes second they have probably mounted a challenge for the title. Liverpool's luck and prioritising of the Champions League makes a mockery of the competition. Rat eating bastards.

Money talks. It's the only reason. Personally I've found Europe a snoozefest since the changes came in. You may aswell just sit there and watch them count the notes.

The trouble with the CWC was that after the expansion of the European Cup into the Champions League it had become the Cup Losers' Cup. We're still seeing that today, with cup losers from the stronger leagues gaining qualification for UEFA. But what can you do if domestic cup competitions are to retain any credibility?

I completely agree about CL drop-outs getting a parachute into UEFA. But I think what really makes the CL so predictable is the Group Stage; it's designed to make it all but impossible for the big names to get knocked out early on. G14 wanted the second group stage reintroduced to 'make the competiton more exciting'. What cock. What would make it exciting would be to have an unseeded knock-out, but can you see that happening?

It's all to do with money. There was nothing at all wrong with the original format, but now the rich clubs continue to get richer as they qualify year in year out for the Champions League and receive all their amounts of cash.

100% agree. The group stages and the UEFA cup parachute is simply there to protect the CL teams from their own excessive spending. It won't change though, the CL is far too lucrative.

It's a cartel which disgracefully has been allowed to happen, the rich clubs get richer they dominate the latter stages of the cl, if they fuck up one season in the league section they get to have some fun in the Uefa and all the while this extra wealth allows them to dominate their respective domestic leagues.

I doubt it does much, the Champions League is still running so why would the neutral pay any attention to the little old UEFA Cup with their new batch of rejects?
