What a legend.

Won everything there is to be won. He once scored 40 PL goals in a season when he drove Spurs to the PL + CL double. He was Englands record goal scorer at the age of just 25. Ended up leaving for Barcelona after he got fined for missing training. Still a legend though.

Shame that Millwall always got screwed over but you couldn't contain Cherno's ambition for long.

Goodnight sweet prince.

Someone needs to put together a charity match with the CM legends..

Would love to see Bakircioglu smashing them in from the edge of the box.. running the show with Kallstrom and Diego, feeding Cherno and Maxim Tsigalko (one of life's great regrets is flogging him to Man Utd to buy Fausto Rossini who never quite matched up).. and of course Ibra - my memory might stretch across more than one edition of the game though..

Sad news, Tonton Zola Moukoku were the best partnership I ever had. Goal scorer supreme.

Having read an article on this from the BBC I (surprisingly) know who he is.

Never played the game and I don't understand half of it. Which is probaably why I don't consider myself an expert in football/tactics and team building. I always wanted to give it a go but I just haven't got the time to devote to it, it does seem like something that would take up a lot of time and brain effort. I'm short on both.

More so nowadays. I also don't play anymore, had to wean myself off it after the '05 version nearly ruined my life!!

Part of the charm is the simplicity, you start off just picking a squad and playing around in the transfer market and before you know it you are studying scouting reports from the Ghanaian super league and testing out new training routines on the youth squad.

I had a friend at uni who was from the Millwall area, or somewhere nicer nearby, and he insisted he played against Samba at school level - and that Samba was lying about his age (or someone on his behalf). At the time he was linked to Liverpool and it never happened.. wonder if there was any truth in it.

I have read a few accusations of that, mainly because of his youth level goalscoring record (130 odd in 30 games) and the fact that he moved from Gambia.

Seeing as he is retiring at 29 is wager a lot of it is true.

Whatever happened to Mads Jorgenson? Was a stalwart back in the day accompanying young whippersnappers Pablo Aimar and Javier Saviola.

Ah Cherno Samba. He scored for my Darlington team in the 2008 Champions League final against Barcelona. We were 2-0 up at half-time but lost it 3-2 in the last minute to a goal from fat Ronaldo. Disappointing times.

Wasn't quite as good as Tonton Zola Moukoko. But together they formed what will go down as one of, if not the, legendary partnerships, and he is undoubtedly one of the finest strikers of any era. Enjoy a well earned retirement Cherno.
