We're in it to face the best teams in Europe. Considering how poorly we did this season against what we all thought was going to be an easy group, perhaps our lads would be more inspired to perform against some of the bigger clubs. Would certainly make for a great spectacle in Wembley! Can't wait. Bring it on!!!

It seems we will be in pot 3 if United win the Europa or pot 2 if they don't win...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ham-face-nightmare-Champions-League-draw.html

It doesn't matter whether they win or not if two teams ranked higher than us get through the playoffs.

Pot 1 will be Real, Bayern, Chelsea, Juventus, Benfica, Monaco, Spartak and Shakhtar. Pot 2 will definitely be Barca, Atletico, PSG, Dortmund, Man City and Porto. It looks likely that Roma will finish 2nd in Serie A, which would mean Napoli would go into the playoffs along with Sevilla, both of whom are ranked higher than us.

In an ideal world Ajax win the EL and either Napoli or Sevilla get knocked out in the playoffs, but then it's seeded to benefit teams like that.

I get that.. but it would be nice to actually get out of the group this time! One massive team, and two "smaller" teams would be ideal for me.

And then get some glamour ties in the latter stages of the tournament!

Although, it's looking very likely we will get pot 3, so you will probably have your wish!

It's not that it's my wish but after last year's poor showing by us i'd rather play a barca/ madrid or Bayern/ juve than gent or cska at least it's a game the spurs lads will be up for and a real acid test if you know what I mean

Well Monaco were a bit of a surprise package! We actually had a pretty tough group.

Spartak Moscow, Porto and Celtic will do just fine (y)

Barca, PSG and Roma for the masochists among SC.

Barca and PSG are in the same pot.

Most difficult group would be Bayern, Barca and Roma/RB Leipzig IMO

Monaco were a surprise package, but conversely Bayer Leverkusen were surprisingly awful - they only finished 4 points clear of the relegation playoffs in the Bundesliga this season, 21 points behind the Champions League places. We really should have done better against them.

A lot of people looked at our group and thought is would be a cake walk. Proved to be that at that level there are no teams that are going to roll over and let you tickle their bellies.

If we're capable of beating Leicester 6-1, we're capable of doing the same to Leverkusen. They might be a bigger name, but they've played at the same level this season. Let's not make excuses for what was an inexcusably bad result at home to them any more than if we'd lost at home to a bottom-half side in the league.

Team that faced Leverkusen:

Lloris (C); Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Davies; Wanyama, Dembele; Sissoko, Eriksen, Dele; Son.

No Rose, Toby, Lamela or Kane.

But as you say "lets not lets make excuses". After all what side would miss a goal a game striker?

All I know is that if we put out that side against West Ham, Leicester, Bournemouth etc at WHL we'd recognise a loss as a very disappointing result. If we eventually missed out on Top 4 or the title by a couple of points, it's the result everyone would look back to and say "that's where we fucked up". Heck, we've been without Lamela most of the year and Rose half of it and haven't had another result that bad. Of course we missed the likes of Kane and Lamela, but we spent £50m in the summer buying backups to them - if they aren't good enough that's nobody's fault but ours.
