If Eriksen stays, he's still vital.

---------------------------Lloris
Aurier - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose
-------------------Sissoko - Ndombele
------Eriksen-----------Dele-------------------Son
---------------------------Kane

By halfway through the year, I could also see it becoming this

---------------------------Lloris
Sissoko - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose
-------------------Winks - Ndombele
------Eriksen-----------Lo Celso-------------------Son
---------------------------Kane

I think there are plenty of unanswered questions, RB, LB, CB partner to Vertonghen, CM, and AM all are/have slots up for grabs. I think it's a weakness starting the season with so many unknowns in terms of who's best.

Lloris, Vertonghen, Moura and Kane for sure is in my starting line up, and the rest I'm just not sure about. I do not think it is a given that Alderweireld, Sissoko, Rose, Eriksen or Dele will be the most regular players this season.
Sorry but how on earth can Toby be uncertain and Moura certain?

If Eriksen goes:

Lloris
Foyth - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose
Winks
Ndombele - Lo Celso
Dele
Kane - Son
If he stays, replace Lo Celso or Dele with Eriksen.

Caveat - this line-up includes fully motivated players (i.e. Eriksen, Rose). If not motivated, they don't make the team and would be replaced by Alli and Davies respectively).

Lloris
Foyth - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose
Winks
Ndombele - Lo Celso
Eriksen - Kane - Son

or the more attacking version

Lloris
Foyth - Alderweireld - Vertonghen - Rose
Ndombele - Lo Celso
Eriksen - Alli - Son
Kane
I'm still not convinced of Winks as a CDM. I see him more as alongside one of Ndombele/Lo Celso, with Sissoko as a back-up/alternate. Great selection problems in midfield for Poch!

If we play both Lo Celso and Ndombele in the same 11, I think we need a DM to anchor behind them so they can play with optimal attacking freedom. Both players clearly like going forward, and if we've learned our lesson from Paulinho, it's that we shouldn't bog down attacking-minded midfielders with too much defensive duty.

I think Alli needs to earn his spot in the team again. Injuries obviously haven't helped, but a sub-par season capped off by a very poor Champions League final should push him back in my opinion. In the advanced positions, Eriksen and Son are clearly ahead of him, and I think Lucas is too because he gives us some serious pace and flair. I'm kind of partial to Lamela too, because he has excellent technical qualities, something we've lacked over the last few years outside of Eriksen.

Dele will not be in my best 1st eleven. I know controversial and goes way beyond public opinion.

Not unreasonable tbh. With our two midfield acquisitions, Lamela impressing in pre season as ever, and if Eriksen stays, Dele will really need to up his game on a consistent basis.

What I like now is that we have potentially 2 or 3 best XI lineups/systems. I doubt we'll go 3 games in a row with the same starting XI.

Can Sess play RB too?

FWIW, I like (assuming Chris is off)

Hugo
Sess/Foyth - Toby - Verts - Rose
Ndombele - Winks
Son - Lo Ceslo - Lamela
Kane

Classic Poche, Argentinian football... Tidy, combative, yet ball playing CB's. Winks as pivot, Ndombele as the maurauder, Lamela offering ganbatte pressing and creativity, Lo Ceslo is potentially Poches perfect Enganche (sorry Chris). And of course Harry as the prolific goal getter a la Batigol/Kempes.

Motivation, dedication, manager relation, and also, oh, I believe they cover different spots on the pitch? The freeloading Alderweireld has escaped fans' scrutiny for far too long.
Sorry what exactly has Toby done wrong? He signed a contract and appears to be finishing his contract. He doesn't want to sign a new contract which he is allowed to do. You have no idea what his reasons behind not signing a new contract is! He has already mentioned he would love to finish his career with Ajax which I totally understand.

He is still our best out and out defender and even on Sunday when he came on he oozed class. So whilst he is here and playing well...he should be starting.

I think it is going to do him good not be guaranteed to play week in week out. Let's see if he steps up a gear.

So many permutations in our mids! What an exciting prospect. Our best player last season (Sissy) was the first name on the team sheet for me. I can hardly get him in the 11 now. Deli Alley is in all sorts, he might not make the bench?.

I think Skipp and Winks will be a season older and better, and playing alongside GLC and TN will improve them both.

A healthy Lamela too!! Holy crackers I’m gonna need a valium. COYS

Really hard to pick an 11 now because we've got so many options both in terms of personnel and systems. Nice problem for Poch to have I suppose. Hopefully will mean the likes of Dele don't get too comfortable as well so will motivate him to kick on. Same for Eriksen if he decides to be sulky about not getting his move we can mix it up and play without him until he stops pouting.

FWIW I would like to see us try a 433 with:

Ndombele Winks Lo Celso
Moura Kane Son

especially against weaker teams that want to just sit back I think this could be devastating.

Also I would like to see Dele given a chance to play behind Kane like he used to in his first two seasons. Something like:

Ndombele Winks
Moura Dele Son
Kane

Also our bench will be so much stronger this year, could make a huge difference that.

Sissoko was great last year in Midfield last year I know but once the new players are up to speed how about trying him at right back?

He has all the raw ingredients, Pace, power, great engine. Not a bad crosser either. He even basically played there last year covering for Trippier.

Dele had a poor season last season for a number of reasons, but I can honestly see him upping his game and finding a place back in the starting 11. The injuries are a concern, but if he can come back and stay fit he'll once again be an integral part of our attacking play.
