When travelling with the mighty Spurs what are your best/worst away days, be in with regards to the result, atmosphere or just the place.

Personally, I loved Newcastle away a few seasons back. Atouba scored an absolute rocket and we won, added in with the fact that we made it into a 4 day weekend and played some golf on the way.

Most of my away days have been horrible....I guess its just the nature of being a Spurs fan. Sunderland last season  Two FA cup semi finals at Old Trafford were awful. Bolton away in the League Cup a few seasons back, I seem to remember them running out of pies and snacks well before kick off, then Fadiga had some heart attack which was awful and although we won, man it was a horrible place.

The worst of them all though was a good 10 years ago at Selhurst Park, it was just a dump as I remember it.

Best probably beating west ham 4-3 the other year, very very funny as we were never leading the game until the last 5 seconds!

worst prob has to be Millwall away in 2001 for pre season 'friendly'. it was kicking off everywhere, even during the game.
after the game we got chased back into the stadium by around 2000 millwall fans! lovely day that was.

But there was about 4 police which really helped stop them :)

Best away days...

Klinsmann hitting 4 and Spurs 6 in total against Wimbledon to help keep us up. The relief and joy coming out of the stadium, getting on the train, getting to my local, drinking all night, it was a pure high that didn't stop all night.

1-0 win at the Dell a few years back (Armstrong?). Myself and my mate led the chanting of our away support. Great atmosphere.

Worst...

Getting to Bradford at half time because of trains.

Sunderland 2 seasons ago. Have a fear of flying but flew up for an over night stay in Newcastle. Four airports in little more than 24 hours only to see Sunderland equalise late on. Absolute pisser.

Old Trafford Semi final against the Arse. Stuck on a coach for 4 hours just trying to get out of Manchester and then receiving a call to say a friend of mine had lost her battle against cancer. Put the game into perspective but it was still a long day on eventually got home just after midnight when that's the only place I wanted to be right then.

It seemed like it! was you there too Doogs?

Yep. Keith Stevens testimonial? At about 43 minutes the ball went into the crowd and they wouldn't give it back so the ref blew up for half time.

'You'll never make the station!'

yeah thats the one! i saw millwall fans climbing spiked fences to get to us!!

As we got chased back into the stadium, a steward shit himself and locked himself in this storage cupboard!!

A certain Trevor Tanner was there in the thick of it.

Wembley when we beat Chelscum in the CC final wasn't bad as i was right where we picked up the trophy. Also the atmosphere in O'Reilly's in Brussels last season before the Anderlecht game was superb! One of the worst was a couple of years ago going up to Anfield on my birthday with a stinking hangover and we got turned over and JJ missed an absolute sitter!

How's this for madness - my friend and I were meant to be going to see Spurs at Villa, I think it was, but on the way we heard it got snowed off so very naively, dressed in our Spurs kit, we thought we'd catch another match. As I vaguely knew the Millwall goalkeeper we decided to go and catch his game - still in our kit. We took a lot of stick from the Millwall fans and some were understandably quite unpleasant but most were fine and we got bought quite a few drinks I remember - in those days I didn't actually know there was this great rivallry - I was just a nice girl from Suffolk!

Best by far was wen we went away to Notts Forest to see Ricky and Ossie make their debuts - first game of the season. It was boiling hot and we were all tightly packed into the away section. My friend was pregnant at the time and started feeling a bit panicky. I spoke to a steward and believe it or not they let us sit on the grass at the edge of the pitch. I had a wonderful close up view - a little intimidating when play came close to us - but an unforgettable experience. And of course Villa scored a wonderful goal too. A great day!

I wonder if Boro away on Sat will compare - if we could just start the season with 3 points - yes it would - and it will be well worth the 10 hours driving.

for me it is a choice between the

1981 FAC thursday night replay vs Man.City
or
1972 UEFA 1st leg at Molyneux vs Wolves

I can't decide which.

Best:

Probably the 1-0 win at Newcastle, thanks to Atouba. Anyone who was there may remember him blasting over three times from about 8 yards in the first half. At half time I said to my old man "I bet you a million quid he scores today!" and he just laughed his head off! When that goal went in the whole section went absoloutely mental.

Portsmouth away, opening game of the 05/06 season was good. 2-0 win and with no roof and it lashing down for the whole four hours we weren't in the car it was quite funny. We got three points and made more noise than they're lot.

Funnily enough, losing 3-1 to United in the Cup this year was a great day. It was only four days after we'd destroyed the scum, so we didn't care about the result, we just sang about Wembley, all 6500 of us, for the whole 90 minutes.

Worst:

Losing 4-0 to Southampton at St Mary's in the FA Cup 3rd Round, which happened to be the same day as my tenth birthday.

Losing 5-1 at The Riverside in the same season. Definately one of the darkest days for me, especially being 4-0 down after 50 minutes.

Pompey away was class. Loads of banter with Hans Segers before the game, some Yid was giving him mental abuse which he was taking well but he should have kept an eye on the pitch instead, while looking at us he got a right smack in the head by a wayward shot

Those 2 away games were real kicks in the teeth. I had just got back from holiday the morning of the Saints game and headed straight there without going home, should have skipped it. The Boro game I went up on the coach, looooooong journey home! :-(
