After losing their opening Championship game, now been comprehensively stuffed 3-1 by Luton in the first round of the cup. Obviously very early days and I think they'll throw enough money at it and turn the corner, but Championship is a very close league and a lot of the time about momentum. If they don't get a grip quickly it will be a long old season, again.

Results business though and won't take them long to fall behind.
Holloway said they could go down again if they aren't careful and, based on the first two games, he may not be far off (he did predict mid table in the end though).
Villa have lost 20 straight when Grealish starts!!!

Just reading the Luton v Villa match report and apparently Villa haven't won an away game since August 2015, now that is consistency

I have to feel sorry for Grealish in some respects, in fact a fair few of that team, because if they were dropped into a more organised, more motivated team with a half decent leader i'm pretty sure they wouldn't embarrass themselves like they are at the moment. There's talent there but together they just don't work. Worse than that, they actually hinder each other and make each other look bad. It's like a perfect blend of chicken soup, cranberry sauce, blue nun, a hammer, a handful of ants and three feet of silly string.

From what i see the only way to get that club back on it's feet would be to, quite literally, empty out the whole squad of over 21's and invest all of the money into a young squad of hard working lads, then be patient. Not going to be a quick fix.

For goodness sake how can it get so bad for Villa.

This is a Premier team with great tradition, history and fan base.

I personally am sorry, as a Spurs supporter, to see where they are now.

Plus it was always an easy 3 points for us up there recently.

They are a total shambles of a club and unless things change dramatically I can see them going down again which could take a decade or two to recover from. A shame really.

Hope they drop like a frozen shit cube from a plane.

Home comes?

I quite like Villa myself, haven't really done anyone any harm lol.

Did you visit Aston and not pay one of the kids a quid to look after your car one time?

I can see Villa going down again, they haven't really sorted their squad out well this summer at all.

A lot of their players should have been moved on or just frozen out if they couldn't shift them and they needed to get some more players in.

Surely a club of their stature could attract some decent players, even if needed to be for low fee or on a freebie?

Looking at their squad they lost a pretty solid keep in Guzan and replaced him with Gollini, a 21 year old Italian. Goalkeepers are quite a fragile thing and throwing a 21 year old in is a big risk, they probably needed someone a bit older with experience of the league.

Defence-wise they still have Lescott, who caused quite a stir with his ill-advised tweet about it being a 'relief' Villa had been relegated. As an experienced player he should be showing a bit more bollocks. They also have Okore, who refused to be sub last season so he should have been gotten shot of and Richards who has never been as good as his early years.

They have got a quality defender in Elphick but he can't hold the whole defence together...

In midfield I can only see they have purchased Tshibola, who could turn out to be a talent but again is quite young and untried (he doesn't have many appearances at previous club Reading under his belt) and he is replacing Gueye, who was their only decent midfielder last season. They haven't strengthened really at all.

Up top they have bought in McCormack who can be pretty decent, but I think they could have gotten better. Agbonlahor is still there who has gone completely to shit having been very promising in his early years. They also have Ayew who could be decent as got 7 goals for them in Prem, which is pretty decent considering how absolutely shit awful they were last year.

They had an opportunity with take over to really put in a solid foundation for the future of the club, then they went out and got Roberto fluke shoes di potatoe to manage them.

They literally might aswell have stuck with sherwood, useless coach who'll they'll sack by easter

It must be a long time since the local kids only wanted £1 for minding your car.

Villa playing a few minutes away from me, and currently 3-1 down to Bristol City.

Lost 2-0 to Preston today to leave them 19th. Despite spending £50m on transfers they've only managed 1 win in 11.

I honestly thought the Championship was going to be a straight fight between the barcodes and Villa, looking at their squads at the start of the season. While Newcastle look more and more like a competent squad, Villa look like they're actually getting worse.

Something at the club is rotting, it might be in the squad or it may be something as under the radar as a shitty coach, but they need to get someone on disaster management right now else they're going down.

I watched a couple of games of theirs... theyre actually a decent team creating numerous chances but just cant out the ball in the back of the net.
