So this cheeky tit-bit was posted by Hercs in the William Saliba thread yesterday evening:

Perception is why I said ‘football IQ’. People don’t go just by perception in the modern game anymore. The only exceptions are Barca & RM, as a guide. Agents do their homework, as does the players. Within the game it is well documented on the wrangling and internal discontent going on with those up the road.

Now as a player I wouldn’t want to be around that. Also with a certain big name striker wanting out there. His club will determine, along with his input, on where he ends up.

Presumably he means PEA.

Meltdown would go up a few DEFCON levels if that happened!!!

There have been plenty of press links with Lacazette and Barcelona over the last few months.

Interesting

I do remember one link concerning Lacazette to Barca, but wasn't there also a couple of more recent links of PEA to China and possibly Man Utd

What royally fucks me off with this is the last point 'A firm NO to a European Super League'.

4 or 5 seasons ago when they were a shoe-in for top 4, they would have been all over an Elite League. Now things have gone the other way for them they are now vehemently against it.

Unfair, few years back their fans were against it then. When they were in cl. Think most fans that go to games are against it.

There may not be any 'fire' to the 'smoke' that says that Kroenke is using the club as a cash cow to partially fund his other sporting businesses, but I wouldn't dismiss it completely.

The allegation is that he's held back on transfer spending to keep the balance sheet looking as healthy as possible, and then used the club (Arsenal) as collateral to get the loans required to build this new billion dollar NFL stadium in LA.

How much truth there is in that I don't know, but that's what the accusation is anyway. It seems fairly plausible as well so could well be true.

I believe they have around £230m in the bank. They are holding onto it for a reason and it has been building up for years even though transfer fees have gone through the roof (meaning they are getting less and less value for what they spend). It is the most plausible explanation.

Clubs view and fans view are 2 different things.

My view is that the club loved sitting at the top table and the fans embraced the status.

The club was led by David Dein in this drive to garner as much influence (and money of course) not only in European but also World football.

And they were only interested in themselves.

The end line :ROFLMAO: I'd be fuming if Levy put out a statement like that, it looks so small-time ending with a line about us. Worry about the state your club is in before thinking about us, mug.
