Ive always said that whilst the football machine is making millions and millions and spending needless money on things like hologramic fucking advert boards there is very little in place for youngsters whom have been told there going to make it "big" only to be struck down with an injury or their progress has been hindered. I really hope that the club have put something in place for the youngsters who dont make the grade. I for one would certinally put all my eggs into one basket if id been called up to play for my nation at the age of 16. Just hope theres something career wise (be it football or other pastures) that the club will/ have sorted out for the lad.
Well, the club have stuck by Radwan Hamed so far and his heart condition could've meant his name joining that horrible list of players who died with their boots on. Fortunately, from what i've read, he's making a slow but steady recovery, more than once attending training sessions to see the rest of the academy lads.

How much do you think would be appropriate then? They've stuck by him through a serious repeating long term injury, got him the best medical attention they could, when they were told he would never fully recover they offered to give him the training and badges he needs to have a full career in football as a coach, and then when he turned them down they gave him a large payout which most people would have to work for many years to aquire and left him with the option to return if he changed his mind. What more could they do short of paying him indefinitely? So many players have been unable to make the grade that the club would be bankrupt if it was trying to look after every one of them.

why bother paying up his contract surely just keeping him here till the end of it would have been more sensible especially since he has been here for 10 years !! Would be gutted if it were me !

It doesn't always have to be harsh!

With his contract paid-up, that would probably have given him the ability to claim on any Insurance he might of had. Without us paying it up, I doubt whether any company would have entertained a claim.

Also, by paying a contract up, that gives the guy a lump sum, when it is probably needed the most.

you cant blame the guy being determined to continue playing. not looking good for him at any level though is it

shame this happens so often to young players especially ones who had so so much potential as Terry Dixon

In Dixon's case, I see it as a tragedy :-(

Hey again Dan,

Just recieved this email from a mate, and wondered on your views?

Sounds a load of crap to me, but have you heard anything about this?

Got to be inaccurate, would defeat the object of leaving because he needs CL football at this stage in his career

Plus trading those 5 players for Barry would represent a bad deal for us I feel (and a very NBA/NFL way of doing business)

Maybe we can trade our first round draft pick for Ashley Young while we're at it

Hi Dan, do you have any idea of how some of our more high profile youngsters are progressing, and how highly if at all are they rated by the management, especially in regard to first team appearences.By higher profiles I mean the likes of Pekhart, Olsen, Dixon, Rose, etc

Dixon was released due to sustaining 2 dislocations of the knee in 2 years

That's terrible news and he had great promise, he was even included in the Senior RoI squad a while ago.

Where did he go? I'm sure people would be interested.

gone no-where he was released.

told he can't risk playing pro footy, but that said there are a couple of lower league teams prepared to give him trials.
