The source reportedly saying this (@hirstclass) said a few days ago that Martial could only leave for a foreign club. Have we any reason to believe that’s changed, bar optimistically extrapolating from Herc’s cards falling into place post?

If a foreign club were genuinely in for him, I think we’d have no luck. But they’ve been looking for one for months and so far, crickets...

Exactly. Mourinho wants that cash to replace him. I think this will depend on how serious Levy is and if Chelsea enter the fray.

I suppose the good news is that Chelsea have been linked to both Zaha and Martial, as well as Bailey, therefore if they choose Zaha we may actually get a free run at him. If not we may then go back for Zaha.

Will he even get in to the team? Haven’t we bought Moura who’s basically the same kind of player? I don’t see this as the biggest area the team needs strengthening.. not to the extent of spending the whole window to get him when it’s highly unlikely Utd will sell to us. Utd hardly need the cash???

Im sooo keen for martial, in my opinion he is perfect for us. Can play as a winger/ inside forward/ striker. He is direct, quick and can beat a man one on one so easily, not to mention a serious goal threat and has done it in the league.

I think the difference with him and moura is that martial is stronger, so once he gets running and moving hes able to keep the ball at his feet and hold the defenders off and bring other players into the game for us. I think moura is faster and has faster feet and maybe better control but he can get over run by the bigger defender, martial much better at shrugging those defenders off and keep driving towards goal. Think poch would work wonders with him and would love to see a situation of a fluid front 4, where kane can drift out of the 9 role and martial can slide in and exploit kanes passing more and give him more space. Teams are so focused on defending harry at that 9 he still manages to score bucket loads with the entire defence focused on him.

Saying all of that still dont see it happening, but a man can dream

Not saying that if we got Martial he definitely would or wouldn’t get in the starting 11 but there’s a point to be made that the best sides just stockpile talent and let the 11 figure itself out, e.g. Bayern, Real, Barca.
