I'd say the banana heads are the ones giving anyone the title before a ball is kicked, but that's for a different thread.

:ROFLMAO: 16 points, strengthening and will strengthen further, I'm not giving them it they will earn it. It's simply the reality of football, money teams win 99.9% of the time.

In addition, clubs are only likely to be willing to let players leave who they don't want to keep - the fact that we're obviously trying to sign players that the clubs are reluctant to lose should be seen as a positive.

the thing is if we had made 2-3 signings by now, but nothing high profile, the same ones moaning about a lack of activity would be moaning about the quality. they moan about how much it has cost them for their new season ticket, yet it would need just under 200 1882 ST holders just to pay Kanes new wages. if we had gaping holes, and were struggling to compete on any front, we wouldn't even be able to consider these players

While I respect the opinions of some here who believe they are being realistic that we don't have a chance at the title, but really? Even after the last few season's we have had?!
We're an exciting club with a young squad that's growing with experience.
We're on a consistent ascendancy that no one else can match. In fact, the others are yo-yo'ing with their results from season to season.
We just had 9 of our players compete at the WC right up until the semi-finals. More growth & experience. How many other clubs can say that?
I can't wait to give it another go. It may not happen but I wanna believe.

Anyway, glad they're not running the club with their defeatist attitude.

No-one has retained the PL in a decade. Football isn’t as simple as you’re implying. They’re favourites, but no-one has it won before a ball is kicked; there are a lot of questions still to be asked, let alone answered.

No, we’re also going to have to get used to a new stadium. One where the fans will be right down the throats of the opposition. Instead of that lifeless saucer we played at last season and did amazingly well. No chance of picking up many points at home now! Heavy sarcasm used. Let’s get back on a level playing field and see where we get.

I don't like Pep much but there hasn't been a manager anywhere near his quality in charge at City, the only other manager close to him is Jose and he is getting shafted by the United board.

If he coached on a limited budget anytime soon and was successful then he might prove to be a great manager

He's succeeded at some point everywhere he's gone.
Granted it's Barcelona, Bayern Munich, & City where he's had the pick of the best & some of the most expensive players on the planet.

I bet even a SC Banana Head could achieve some success with those resources.

In what way is he being shafted? To me it looks as though united are the ones being shafted by mourine no? United have bough top talent all across the park yet mourine has them playing so poorly whilst slowly strangling the life out of any excitement his players had possesed before he got them under his constriction.
City will be tough to catch but i wouldnt put any money on them being as machine like as last season. United are due another car crash well before the start of the 2019/20 season.

Umm he hasn't signed anyone that's going to massively improve them so far this summer, Fred is the only one who will probably start the money seems to have dried up, considering the club they are. I honestly think he will walk by Christmas and the board know it so don't wannna give him any more funds.

As for City, I see absolutely no reason why they won't be even better next season, yes Pep is a chequebook manager but he know she how to use the chequebook very, very well.

You mean this one ...
Pochettino said at the time: “This summer was a very good example because we signed good players but it was so late and with no pre-season [for them], you pay,” Pochettino added. “You then need six or seven months for the player to be fit, adapt himself in everything and that is always against us.

“The most important thing that we have been talking about is to identify our targets and, on 3 July, when we start our pre-season, they are here. If we don’t, it’s so difficult for them to help the team and then, during the season, you are going to pay. It’s so important today to identify your targets for the summer. If not and we wait until May and, before we sign, we sell, it’s so difficult to bring in players that can help"

Pochettino added: “We tried to make early signings last summer but we could not, for different reasons. Now, we are going to try again to do things early. If we cannot again, I am going to say: ‘Come on, we could not again!’”
Yeah, like you said, go back and read the interview he gave.

I should add in Aug 2017 we got 4 points out of 9 and in Aug 2016 we 5 points of 9 so every September we are playing catch up.

Pretty pathetic.. Liverpool especially have kicked on I would like to start a season not being totally frustrated with the clubs business in the window

I disagree. If we had made even one signing that added squad depth i think people would moan a lot less. It gives people a chance to dream. Not making any signings is making people Ansy, rightfully so imo, because it feels like every other last minute, goal posts were moved transfer window.
Grealish should have been signed by now. Not being able to get a transfer like that over the line by now leaves me doubtful about our supposed big plans for the rest of the window.
Hope I'm wrong, but if I'm not this is the last time i believe.

I kind of feel like something might be happening with him because his camp have been so quiet despite not long ago voicing their discontent. Although that could of course also be a sign that they are now content, who knows.

Hopefully we just attract someone of his calibre, someone that will have the opponents thinking that they have a handful with Kane, Eriksen, Dele and '?' to deal with.

For a player who wants to move away he seems a lot happy at united pre season training camp (Maybe he's happy because he knows he's joining sours ?)
