If we're not selling Rose there's zero chance of this happening.
Man Utd know if they sold us Martial they won't be finishing above us. Would be a ridiculous decision from their side.

I'm hoping the willingness to buy him more than anything was there, because that would mean there is a least a small chance we'll bring in a pacy attacking player with end product that I think our squad desperately needs.

It depends how arrogant Mourinho wants to be. He sold Mata to United didn't he? This isn't too disimilar.

Or a token gesture to keep Pochettino happy.

ITK implied that Levy did the same with Moutinho when AVB was with us. When the offer was unexpectedly accepted, we sabotaged it. AVB saw through it and eventually quit by 'mutual consent'.

Seriously? I must have missed that if so. Assumed it was all down to agent and 3rd party bollocks...

That Moutinho transfer fell through a year before AVB left, it definitely wasn't that, that led to his depurture although his frustrations might have been a contributing factor.

I'm not sure this is what happened. I heard AVB created a terrible environment at the club and Levy had to put an end to it.

Nope. That's what was said to have happened. The deal was on, Moutinho wanted to come, and Levy deliberately started messing around with the details of the contract to ensure it didn't go through.

Obviously AVB stayed on for a year, but if you can recall his quotes after he resigned, that's what he was referring to.

Yeah Mata came to mind but weren't Chelsea head and shoulders better than Man Utd then? I forget. Might be similar to the idiotic feeling that Matic to Utd won't make them potentially a better team than Chelsea. It's different with us because we're better than Man Utd.

Well I hope it's not that because it be pretty easy for Poch to see through that and the way things are last thing we need is irritating him.

Apparently Utd have gone back in for Perisic, could free up Martial?

Also tomorrow could be a big indicator, if he doesn't play any part against the Spammers tomorrow it's safe to say Mourinho wants to see the back of him.

Oh I thought AVB quit cause he was not performing and didn't want to be sacked, what happened to AVB and Moutinho after all this happened? Hmmmmm :sneaky:.

If they sign Perisic, Martial is way down the pecking order. We know what Martial would demand in wages and we were willing to meet those demands.

What a bunch of unpleasant entitled whiners! I'm so glad that growing up in the north of England I chose Spurs as my other team (as well as the local fourth division club) when all my friends were supporting United.
So you support Citeh and Spurs ? That must get tricky

Wasn't there two pieces of tenuous itk that could fit with this? The Basil Boli meeting where a French player was inferred and also the rumour a few days ago about a player who realised he made a mistake and wanted to correct it? Both could fit for martial. He'd be perfect for us which is why it probably won't happen. Jose believes that Jose is the special one. If he wants rose badly then this should be the deal (Shaw too though please)

Reports at the time were that he signed a 4-year deal, with an option for a fifth year. Anyone know how those options usually work? Is it 100% the club's ability to exercise, or does the player need to agree as well?
TM say his contract is up in 2019 but with a 1 year option as you said. Considering the disparity with what they paid, mid 30s, to what the total potential value is, 60-ish, you would assume that were United to take up the option they would be forced to pay the full amount. If they are not interested in that then perhaps we are setting the tabled for a true bid next summer as he would be in the 'last year' of his contract. As per ITK the agent has been in touch with DL so I'm sure he is aware of the contract situation. So maybe not this year as the financials might not work but DL might be playing the long con. Would be a big signing entering new stadium.

Can't see us getting Martial, maybe Shaw as let's be honest he must love playing for Jose, bet he would beg to play under porch again
Too tight under there. Shaw works better in space.
