Would love Martial. Naturally one of the most gifted wing-towards in Europe IMO. He's been completely mismanaged by Mourinho.

Suspect the last straw for Martial was having Lingaard start in front of him in the Supercup, with Rashford getting the nod in the second half as sub.

He'd be mental to want to stay there. He's way down pecking order and will barely start any games. Jose clearly doesn't think much of him, he won't make World Cup squad if stays there.
Only way it's happening is if Man Utd very strongly want Rose, that links the deal forcing them to sell him to us and nowhere else.

Personally I wouldn't want Shaw as he's crocked, I'd definitely need to see us signing a fast left back with quality before i'd be ok with losing Rose even if gained Martial.

Is this the opening shot. Let Martial know we're interested. Then if/when Utd come calling for Rose, drop a Shaw & Martial swap for Rose on the table. If Utd aren't interested, no deal. That's the only deal we'd accept for Rose. That would give us the pacey WF/CF option we've been looking for, and also an instant replacement for Rose, assuming Poch feels he can restore him to his former self. The Saints Shaw is a whole different animal to the current one. I don't buy the injuries have ruined him, I just think he's being mismanaged.
For me, that deal would completely make up for losing Rose, plus we know we'd have players that want to play for us. If the Rose issue is beyond repair that is.
Could we afford their wages, that's a whole different question.

The thing is that Jose is a stubborn fuck who once he's made a judgement on a player almost never wavers. He already sees Martial as a bench player, that's not going to change, so it'd be best for Martial to move to another club. The problem lies in that we're a direct threat to United, but then Jose is arrogant enough to not give two shits who his surplus to requirements players get sold to.

Wouldn't expect money + martial for rose, given the situation danny has put us in. Straight swap would be a good deal for both clubs IMO.
