In a red-hot atmosphere like Monday night players and referees will make mistakes. For what it's worth I thought Michael Oliver generally got it right, but if he made mistakes they certainly weren't malicious or biased.

Ange has shown the best way to deal with defeat and failure, and it's not to blame other people, like Arteta and Klopp do. It's to reflect on what your own side did wrong and try to sort it out. I wish some of our own fans would follow Ange's example.

Romero's eye was on the ball and he had every right to go for it, as did the Chelsea player. Just because in a fraction of a second, after Romero wins the ball, his foot impacts the Chelsea players shin, does not make it a red.
In this day and age unfortunately it does as its deemed as excessive force, tbh as an ex player myself I'd not have been too happy with that challenge as although he got the ball the way he followed through can be an ankle or even leg breaker, if he'd sidefoot tackled the ball or tried to move the ball away not into the player then neither would've been considered for a red card.

I felt like it could've been a strong amber card so to speak but not overly surprised or shocked that it was given as a red tbh and not overly annoyed in the decision as it was borderline a red at least and he didn't need to tackle like that, just like he didn't need to kick out minutes before that.

He clears the ball side footed and the natural movement on the follow through makes contact with the chelsea player because it's the chelsea player that is late to the challenge. Romero's foot opens up in the same way as when you are making a side footed pass.

I just don't see it as excessive force and certainly not dangerous.

It's unlucky that the contact happened and I can 'understand' why in this day and age it was considered by VAR - but not for me, Jeff.

I do agree with you, shouldn't be a red IMO. I've been calling Romero an Idiot since Monday night, but I guess I was just looking for someone to get angry at.

the annoying part for me was it seemed like var was looking for some thing to point out rather than the actual disallowed goal itself.
It should be used to confirm onfield ref decisions rather than those from a couple of idiots far away.

Audio is a must if var is going to stay

Absolutely 100% correct. Wish more fans stuck up for our players like this.
