Can everybody please stop bumping this thread. JJ has already said it isn't happening. That made me very happy :joyful:. It depresses me even to think he might be wrong :(.

Are there any good highlights videos of him? I had a look and could find one featuring mainly one game for Valencia vs Real Madrid with the same goal shown 3 times and one for Everton where the first minute was him walking out and lining up before the game.

Thanks. Seems he's had a tough few years. Would add depth and a different option in midfield, at least.
looks like there is real talent there...surely Poch can get him back to his best and maybe beyond that!

Got this via a twitter notification 20 minutes ago...

[@SunSport] now understands Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on the signing of Andre Gomes from Barcelona ahead of the window opening.

Spurs are understood to have submitted a £35m offer for the Barcelona midfielder which has now been accepted by the Spanish giants.

From what I read from Dan KP, we aren't going to do business until after the final.

This is really weird, so many news outlets seem to be saying we’re going to sign him, yet JJ keeps say no. Maybe a smokescreen for someone (I can hope)

From what I can tell it's mainly just a couple of outlets. The Matt Law story from a month or so ago and then the report that broke in the Spanish press just before we played Everton. Most of the recent stories in the press I've seen are just regurgitations of that Spanish press piece, or a more general Spurs transfer story with his name tacked onto the end with a whole host of others. We've certainly finalized transfers on more dubious links than that but it's not clear to me that there is much independent reporting going

Yay, first ‘smokescreen’ of the window alert!

In my entire life as a football fan, I’m not convinced a smokescreen has ever been used!

He plays the game way too slowly for us, I kept an eye on him when i watched him live this season and he was sooooo sluggish on and off the ball.

Spurs' Tunnel Cam video certainly made a point of zooming in on him as he made his way off from the pre match warm ups, only Everton player to get a close up...

I made a point of watching him a lot this season and you are completely wrong. Moves the ball well, looked pretty dynamic and had a good sense of urgency in his play. As it stands he would be good in rotation with winks to keep the ball moving alongside a Sissoko type.

All of that sounds like a marginal improvement on the squad

Marginal improvement is definitely better than no improvement, but...I just feel we could do better

He adds depth to our midfield that we surely need. He carries the ball well and has good strength but perhaps tries to hold onto it for a bit too long. I'd be confident that Poch could turn him into a top class CM.
