Exactly. If Spurs want to keep him on 65k a week, playing with fire!

The money he is being paid is irrelevant, the length of the contract is. RM or Barca would quadruple his pay, but put him on a longer contract and that would cost either of them over a hundred million.

If that were ever to be the case Levy would sell, and so would any other club.

Money a footballer gets is never irrelevant. He's deserved to be paid more by his performance this season.

He's a player we really need to keep, there's no way if we sell him, even for crazy money, we could ever get a player nearly as good. Don't want to replace Bale with Paulinho and Soldado again. If a new contract keeps him here then let's do it.

Equates to about £128k/wk. That would probably make him our highest earner. So not sure i believe that 40m number unless Kane and Hugo are in line for a new one also.

Stay committed to the club and I would pay him handsomely. If he is fully committed he deserves this new contract.

I didn't say he didn't deserve it, i just made an obvious comment that whatever we pay a player RM and Barca would triple it if needed, therefore whatever we pay a player is in fact irrelevant in preventing a transfer bid.

To bump up that bid, the longer the contract the better for our club. That is one of the reasons so many players have just signed extended contracts.

Levy isn't stupid, and can see what is likely to be coming his way over this Summer. He's just protecting the Clubs investment, and i see no issues with that.

The key is Pochettino - keep him and we'll be okay with most of our players
The shit stirring is already building up big time with every game we win making seriously biased pundits like lawrenson-Merson and Danny Murphy reveal they're Spurs hatred- poor chaps
