£65m for Mawson and Bertrand to replace Rose and Alderweireld is the kind of mega ambitious move we need to break in the new stadium

Don’t forget Johnstone on a free, Evans for £3m and the cream of the crop, Jay Rodriguez lol

Well I for one would be delighted if this came off Mawson as one of a three at the back would do fine and Bertrand whenever I have seen him play has been very good.People should not be aiming for players that(A)we can't afford the transfer fee and(b)we can't afford the wages.Just get real we have not got the finances of Mancity. Manunt Real Madrid. Barcelona PSG Juventus Bayern Munich need I go on and there are still some clubs people don't realise that are loaded for instance Wolves;Liepzig and a few others .Cut your cloth to fit and Poch will fine tune them so thatchy become even better than they are at this moment

Some people think that players are falling over themselves to come to us but this is not true they will almost always go to the Uber rich and some would turn there back on Europe and go to china for the big bucks I say again get real

You're making a case for Alfie Mawson and Ryan Bertrand to move us forward ...

I'll leave it at that.

I personally think Mawson is a good player and would be a decent signing, but would prefer De Ligt for the money, assuming we don't get too desperate for homegrown players.

Teeside 1 on your list of players you have put the name Maddison after what he said about the club and bale who was with us at the time I think it would be impossible to include him even tho he was only 16 years old at the time ;for myself I would find it hard to accept him you might as well sign Wilshire as he is more proven if you are prepared to let past comments go by

Oh here we go again. No thank you, he won't improve us. We have become a bigger club and also a top 3 level squad so we need to think at that level.

This. But we may need more homegrown so he’d not be the worst option.

And current outgoings the plus new mortgage and loan repayments?...just for a balanced view and overall picture. Would you like to take a guess at that too?

if we want more homegrown players why don't we take a look at our own academy...what is the point investing so much money on training and youth facilities if we need to buy homegrown players for the sake of meeting the quota...

Right now our defensive options are:

Rb: Trippier, Aurier
RCB: Sanchez, Foyth, NeverPlaysWantsToLeave
LCB: Vertonghen
Lb: Davies, NeverPlaysWantsToLeave

If we make these signings/ sales, we are left with:

Rb: Trippier, Aurier
RCB: Sanchez, Foyth
LCB: Vertonghen, Mawson
Lb: Davies, Bertrand

Whatever way you look at it, that is an improvement on our current situation because we’d be replacing two players who the manager doesn’t trust anymore with two players he does. Bertrand is as quick and dynamic as Rose is, doesn’t have the injury history and though a year older, is also in his prime. Mawson might not be a Dutch teenager who nobody has ever seen play but he is an Lbc, homegrown, comfortable on the ball, pretty mobile and would be a good long term successor to Vertonghen.

I personally like when we sign the stand out players from the 'lesser' teams in the PL. It's a huge benefit that these players are familiar with the PL. It shouldn't be frowned up on, Bayern München has done this for ages in the Bundesliga. Same with Juventus in Serie A.

We aren't BM or Juventus though and can't cherry pick players in the same way. But the general attitude among the top teams in the PL seems to be that they rather look abroad than at home for new acquisitions.

The PL is so competitive nowadays that there are some very good players in most teams. It's the contrary in most other leauges where two or three teams completely steamroll the rest.

It just sounds more interesting if we're looking at a "Speedy winger from La Liga or Portugal" but in reality a player like Zaha might be just as good or a better fit for us.

There were dissenters even when we signed Toby from Soton, but he went up a level coming here. No was in why a Mawson or Bertrand couldnt do same.
