Wish he could be more articulate when he posts. He may be partly right but this is not the way for a Sir, so childish and silly and what not...

This is what I hate about twitter, it's a mouthpiece for ignorant ****s like Sugar and Piers Morgan to give their pointless opinions on things they know fuck all about. Attention seeking pricks.

it is also a mine of fantastic information from sources you would not normally hear about in the mainstream media if you follow the right people. And by the 'right people' i don't mean bullshit pseudo celebrities with nothing to say except self promotion and self importance, i mean real people who are deeply embedded in a field you are interested in.

You can say it's what you hate about Twitter because of people like them ... then simply don't follow them. If other people retweet them onto your timeline too often for your liking, then just block them, and then twitter magically becomes a place where, for you at least, they don't exist.

Trust me, there are millions and millions of fascinating, knowledgeable and rational people on twitter.

I'm sure you're right, it's just something I've never really got into. My experience of it is generally limited to inane snippets like this.

Yeah i totally get that, as it is for most people. TBH i think you have to have a deep niche interest to get into it in the first place, a particular technology or science, an off mainstream political agenda, a non-mainstream hobby ... someting niche anyway, then you follow people into that too and develop into it.

You also have to be real careful about who, and how many people you follow so that your timeline does not become clogged with the bullshit. Eventually, if you stick at it for whatver your reasons, most people eventually love it.

There is a saying amongst die hard twitter users "Facebook is for people you know, Twitter is for people you would like to know" (y)

Yep, I can imagine it would be very useful for certain stuff like that, and I wasn't saying I hate Twitter in general. Just the aspect that allows vacuous, attention seekers a platform and audience for their meaningless views which they wouldn't have otherwise.
