I can see this coming down to the last day and him choosing us simply bc we are the only option left, then putting in a good season and a half and pushing to leave in summer of 2020 to one of the teams he wanted to go to now.

If he played well for us and was sold on at a (presumably) large profit that sounds very much in line with our business model.

I have a feeling this one will happen.

Sun running the story now too. We are in desperate need of a CM.

Club "mouthpiece" journalists very quick to shut it down too while other sources say that we're not only interested but ready to move - similar to Moura last Jan.

Not sure if we'll get him, but interest is clearly serious.

I'm sure he'll be fine with Poch's months-long approach to bedding in new players.

In all fairness, I think Mouras bedding in period wasn't so much to bed him in but get him used to a different style of play he needed to implement for our team. He's changed his way of playing slightly to offer the team a little more. This along with the fact he didn't play a lot of football meant he had time to adjust on the training pitch a little more

At which point, we would have likely have won a couple trophies with this help and would look to a make a tidy profit from his sale.

Totally agree. I want him and I’m certain it would play out as I’ve described. I’m fine with it.

Just as an aside, Poch's comments tonight suggest a deal for Rabiot is unlikley.

Foyth is definitely taking Dembele's spot in the CL roster. Thus, if we do not move any non-HG players, then a player like Rabiot will not have a CL roster spot - and I can't imagine he considers Spurs if he can't play CL,

Now, maybe Poch would drop Vorm or maybe Wanyama to fit Rabiot in - so there is some possibility. But it seems a HG player is the first priority.

Drop Wanyama for Rabiot!

I can definitely see him dropping either of those if it means Rabiot is onboard, considering both are likely sold in the summer.

If Rabiot is an option, not going for a player of such quality because of the CL squad numbers we'd have available would be ludicrous

We'd have to take a chance that our goalies are OK and drop Vorm. That or big Vic misses out this situation should never be pivotal when signing class

I would imagine if rabiot joins Wanyama will probably go out on loan. He needs to play anyway. That would still leave us with rabiot winks Sissoko Dier and Skipp. Plus Ericksen can drop back. If we also bought a wide forward then I would not be surprised if Lorente went as well, now that sonny is back. What to take from poch interviews is that any activity in transfer market is with the long term in mind.

Rabiot is a fantastic player. The ideal replacement for Dembele.

However he appears to be a bit of a brat

Know him personally? Or again are you simply guessing because of a few online stories.... so boring. Aurier was deemed to be a nightmare by many and he’s been absolutely fine and a good character in the dressing room.

I think if we want to step up a level, we need players who believe they are top drawer. The best players all have a bit of arrogance and high self belief.
I think he would compliment winks and sissoko perfectly.

Don’t know a lot about this guy, what is his preferred position in midfield?
A Dier holding player or a Dembele
type?
