What annoys me about JJ's comment is that it's so clear and to the point that even the most skilful spinster can't come up with a creative way for it to mean that it might still.

If he hasn't gone anywhere by deadline day, it'll be back on according to the media to get their clicks and views. That's how these work.

This sounded like one that could possibly happen this window simply because it sounded like it might fall into our lap and we'd get lucky. Oh well. Would now be shocked if anything happens this window.

Think it's getting clearer that nothing will happen this window. With Sissoko, Wanyama and Dier back from injury, I don't think Poch will see a desperate need to bring in someone unless a deal can be struck for someone he really wants and the chances of that seem to be next to nothing for various reasons. Sissoko's upturn in form probably means he doesn't see the urgent need to replace Dembele in this window.

Similarly, I think he is comfortable with Eriksen, Llorente, Moura and Lamela as his attacking options until Kane and Alli are back and really don't see anyone coming in this window, not even a loan.

I doubt very much JJ knows anything regarding a phone call that supposedly happened tonight so quickly after it occurring. Maybe he meant as far as we are concerned it isn't not happening but obviously something has changed etc

I'd expect we will hear something tomorrow in the media as to whether or not the phone call was a success. I am sure ParisUnited will post a follow on of some sort to their phone call tweet from this evening.

But how would PSG know Poch is calling them unless it came from the Paris side of things? Could be that Rabiot's people told them they had a call scheduled with Poch but maybe Poch has already made it known on our side we're not interested after the games were played earlier in the window. Thus JJ being comfortable in saying it's not happening with us even before the phone call.

Because it would have been a scheduled phone call surely? Spurs have maybe been in talks with PSG over a deal, PSG are trying to push Rabiot our way apparently but the player is not keen. A phone call is arranged for Poch to speak with the player, Rabiot agrees to have a chat with Poch. ParisUnited are made aware through their PSG contacts....hence the tweet.

I am sure Poch is quite happy to speak to a player to convince him to join, managers do it all the time. It's part and parcel of recruiting key personnel to work in your team.
