The one thing I'll say about the article talking about the media is it fails to take into account the media pundits own personal tribalism and bias into account.
Not sure that tribalism and bias are the same thing...we're all guilty of bias due to who we support, pundits are no different.

You just know that the club that these journalists won't write about is Liverpool.
The tribalism a lot of them display is just fucking odd, almost cult like.

I think the fact he purposefully doesn't mention them, shows that its them!

Someone like Danny Kelly is pretty good though and rarely uses his position to big up Spurs whereas if you give Quinn half a chance, he will wax lyrical about Liverpool for half an hour.

Which is why Danny Kelly is a respected radio presenter, and has been a journalist for most of his career, and Quinn hasnt.
They have vastly differing roles on Talksport, Danny Kelly isn't a pundit.

True - journalism v punditry. Yeah Kelly has had quite a versatile career really.

Personally I've always thought that enic would only get us upto a certain point. That point is now in my opinion. I think most of us wrote off last season as far as expectations and I although I don't particularly care for it (under our model) I understand that the club needed CL for the new stadium and therefore that was the expectation.

Time for a money bags to come in.

very true about ENIC I honestly feel the same, but only because there is no way they can compete with the 5 above us until everything is in place (stadium paid & sponsored) and sold (flats). by the time that's happened we are going also hope we have nicked a trophy or 4.

to really catch up with the likes of Ars, Chav's and Liverpool we have to be out of debt, and also winning things. We might start matching or bettering their annual income but these teams have a much better history than us. Yes Liverpool haven't ever won the prem, and we have finished above them 8 out of 9, but however much the term "five times" hits a nerve, they have also won the main league before the prem 19 times, and dominated pretty much for near on 2 decades.

Chavs got lucky with Abramovic and are now a big team internationally, and Arse had a pretty good record (bar Europe) pre Wenger. his 1st 10 years propelled them up the league of being world wide.

with the old WHL we never had the money coming in to be able to compete with wages, and the last 10 years has seen most of our money go towards the stadium, we also now need to be able to buy players that can improve us, which now becomes a harder task, because those players now go from 15-40 mil to 60+, unfortunately that also means working with bigger agents, something Levy refuses to pay.

This next 2-3 weeks are going to be crucial to our season, 1, keeping players we need to keep, and 2, get the stadium back on track, and prey we get it ready by the City game, because at the moment we have nowhere to play it, and could be heading for a punishment.

Always? ENIC have been in charge for a long time now and when they came along the football landscape was very, very different. It wasn't really until Chelsea that a club had access to a relatively bottomless pit of money (Yes, there was a big change when Sky came into the picture and the Premier league came along, but that affected all clubs, not just one) and for a while the rest of the clubs resisted and refused to accept that the price that Chelsea were paying for players and wages was the norm - they were held up as a freak situation. Europe was a whole different ballgame too, trading across the continent was still kind of rare as well.

ENIC have had their ups and downs, but there's no way we could've seen the entire culture of football evolving as it has. All ENIC have done is simply stayed their course and to say that they're not able to take us further is to admit that football just needs money thrown at it and sound investment doesn't cut the mustard anymore.

Yes, it's frustrating to be standing among the bridesmaids so often, but to compete with Chelsea, Citeh and United, PSG and Real requires the attention of one of a few dozen individuals who can afford to inject the amount of cash we're talking about. We're as likely to get a football minded, club oriented new owner as we are to get a Mike Ashley at the head of a conglomerate of investors.

Grass might look greener, but if there's even the slimmest possibility someone like Mike Ashley might get anywhere near it, it's probably astroturf.

Back on topic though - that ad for Amazon Prime's new Man City series is so weak. Why is that even a thing? What the hell?

The difference between Spurs and the other big five is that we've been making history since 1901, the others apart from The Arse (1930 league champs) have all made their history post WW2!

Exactly.

If a standard new build 3 bed semi can be delayed two months from because of a particularly rainy winter causing delays, why are people so up in arms about a stadium which seats 60,000+ people being delayed? It’s a building project, a very complex building project, I won’t go as far to say this delay was inevitable but it was always highly likely.

oh yes I know, but our history is being the 1st to do something, but never domination.

I know, I was just pointing out the depth of our history over such a long time compared to the other clubs.

Maybe they should have held back the opening date on order to manage expectations better. DL would not have wanted any negativity surrounding the launch so whilst I accept that he wouldn't have failed to anticipate that there might have been a delay, he won't, I imagine, be happy with the PR aspect of how the delay has been managed.

In the grand scheme of things however, it's by no means a disaster and will be quickly forgotten once the stadium is up and running.

No one is saying the delay is unacceptable but fleecing the fans for a product which doesn't exist yet is
