Just when I thought he was going to have a clean bill of health and no tragedies before a season.

I think that makes it 5 summers in succession that Adebayor has had an interruption to his pre-season training.

I have had malaria twice, it will be 3 months or more before Ade fully recovered again

We need to get Bony or Lukaku all the more now

"The striker is expected to be released from hospital tomorrow and will then require a minimum of seven days before returning to training." that doesn't sound like 3 months out and not forgetting he will have the best treatment.
Don't forget Zokora had malaria but I think that was a much worse case Drogba also had it and was playing without knowing but fully recovered after missing a few games.

I had malaria as a kid. Was out of action for a few weeks but on the whole quite enjoyed it. Hallucinations and pampering. He'll be fine.

Zok never had hospital treatment, and he was not the same player for ages, went from shit to ultra shit

I am sure he will be able to resume training before too long but he will not have the strength and energy to be 100% Ade until at least October imho

Why does it always have to happen with our key players, you never read of Sturridge getting malaria or Costa or Giroud or Van Persie or Aguero

I've been saying it years, there is a gypsy curse on our club. If anyone out there has the power to lift curses, please act now!

Did you seriously just ask that question. PMSL.

Can you see a similarity in the discussion over players who have suffered it?.

Drogba.
Zakora.
Adebayor.

They are all African. Hence in the off season, are all much more likely to spend their times in area's where malaria exists.

Apparently - (according to my doc) people from malaria zones are much less likely to take anti malaria tablets when they return for visits as it doesn't occur to them that they will have lost what immunity to the disease they had.(you lose it after just 6 months outside the zone).

They are also much more likely to travel at short notice thus not having time for any malaria pills they might take - to actually start working.

I'm sure it's not just out club. It probably happens to a lot of players... either that, or our club need to up their game on educating the players. The pills can also be quite nasty and you have to take them from a long time so even the educated may choose to take a risk.
