spain is ranked number one in the world, yet, i cant seem to find them in the WC schedule anymore?!?!

The original poster stated that the US team was better according to him. I just linked the actual FIFA World rankings.

Or are you suggesting that the US team are better than Spain?

What's with the bile being hurled at Crazy Heart? He's very much on point with his Adebayor comments. He's a high maintenance player without doubt and has shown himself to be such over the course of his entire career. I'm a fan of his and he's a world class striker when all is going his way, but you guys are straying into personal abuse in response to a reasonable remark.

Where did the "personal abuse" begin?

Here's part of the original post:

He should also understand that there is competition for places, rather than the VIP 'keys to the club' privileges and personal back rubs he got off Sherwood, after helping him become manager.

Just point me in the direction of the info where Ade helped Sherwood become manager. Just one fact?

If that statement is a "reasonable remark" then your as deluded as the poster who wrote it.

After Sherwood reintroduced our highest paid striker to the first team he scored something like fourteen goals in twenty four games. AVB chose to isolate Ade from the team and that was his prerogative. In a team that was scoring less than a goal a game it was a good a decision to try something different that paid off for the team and the Club. Without the goals scored by Ade we would have finished around eleventh place. To suggest that any player got Sherwood the managers job is pure bullshit. Call Sherwood or Ade whatever you want but why lie about one of our own?

That's not supporting a club in any way shape or form.

Ironically (to coin your phrase) in actual fact your National team is not........

http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/

But hey why let the facts get in the way of a good argument?

Being an American does not make you or any other American an idiot regarding football, writing statements without checking facts will.

Happy belated 4th July. As a Brit living between London and Denver we had a great time here in Colorado on Friday.
If I am not mistaken, and I am not. We got out of a much better group, and won a game in it and drew another. We took Belgium into extra time in the knockout round. England, on the other hand, lost 2 and drew the other and went home earlier than the US while having an easiet group. And if FIFA world rankings meant anything, Spain would still be in the tournament. As would Portugal. So, in fact, the US is a better team than England. Definitely not better players, but a better team and that is what matters.

You too, glad you had a good time in the states. Hope it was nice weather there. Because it certainly wasn't here in New York.

Your talking about this WC. USA did progress like many others. In International Soccer the teams are ranked over a period that extends over more than just the World Cup.

At the end of the day if we use your logic from your original post then the US are better in World Football than England, Spain, Portugal, and Italy? I'd be careful using that argument if you want to be taken seriously.

I mean Costa Rica are ranked twenty eighth but are you suggesting that in World Football they are better than fourth ranked Portugal?

Someone called him a moron...not on really.

I don't think he got Sherwood the manager's job, and I think that it made perfect sense for him to introduce him back into the team.

My 'reasonable remark' comment was made in reference to CrazyHeart's cynicism as to whether we can rely on Adebayor to be a committed squad member regardless of whether he's in the team each week. It's a serious concern. AVB's method of dealing with his insubordination was certainly flawed, but that doesn't absolve Adebayor of responsibility for his actions in the first instance.

So? Costa Rica got further than Spain but are they therefore automatically better than Spain? No.

Illogical argument. Get a better one.

I'd take a pissed off, frustrating, pain in the arse player who can give me fourteen goals in half a season over a super-doopa star, who present no problems to a Club but scores a half dozen in thirty eight games.

Redknapp and Sherwood both said that Ade gave them no issues. Freund has said that Ade was always one of the last players off the training ground and one of the first on it. Personally i'd take their word over any member here on SC with a separate, hate filled, unproven agenda against one of our own any day of the week.
