A four man delegation from Nigeria tried to bring Adebayor, his mother Alice and his brother together after a series of embarrassing public rows.

If you read the article it's pretty ridiculous.

The brother is asking for forgiveness because he can't pay medical fees after trying to kill himself and he can't pay his rent.

That should pull on Ade's heart strings

I know I may get slated for saying this but worth what he had been going through with family and the Angola attack It can be easy to focus on football. May well explain how character and why he does not perform consistently...

Yes, but that's 5yrs ago. It hasn't stopped him living his life.. and since then he has played for Man City, Real Madrid and Spurs.

Maybe he's just not focused on football anymore. Made his money, has a lifestyle, has a contract.

If Ade's stories are true, though, his brother is a complete con artist, who alongside his mum have extorted money from him for years, sometimes at knifepoint... If they're true. And if they're true, which Ade says they are, I could understand another sob story of illness not flying too well right now. But hey, who knows.

20 years ago I returned from Bosnia and some of what I witnessed still haunts me. Five years is no time if you are dealing with mental distress issues... And these things come back in periods of stress and anxiety.

I am not in a position to say that this is the reason for Ade's inconsistencies on and off the pitch but these are people with emotions and issues like anyone else.

I realise it affects people in different ways but it hadn't stopped him before now.. so why now. He has even gone back and forth playing for Togo since it happened.

I just think he's lost interest in the game and Spurs are left with the last year of his contract.

I can hardly believe what has happened in EA's life (not wanting to say some isn't traumatic) compares to what has happened in Bosnia. This doesn't mean you aren't right however, but for me seeing traumatic things happening to other people haunts me more than traumatic things happening to me.

Ade is like one of those stale farts that just won't go away. A top player but a grade A tosspot unfortunately. I couldn't give a f**k about his family, or witch doctors, or all the other sh*t we have heard for the last year or so. It is nothing compared to the pressures of people struggling to survive or bring a family up with a small income. He is paid to do a job and has failed miserably, because at the end of the day it is quite clear that he doesn't really care, so I long for the day we finally get rid of him.

Playing devils advocate here but have you ever had anything in your life as traumatic as seeing people gunned down and killed in front of you while being nearly killed yourself?
I can't imagine seeing that happen to others being as traumatic as experiencing it first hand.
As a soldier in Bosnia or on a football team bus, seeing people killed is same thing.
If anything its worse. A soldier has training and expects to see bad shit.
Not having a pop and not defending Ade either, I've slated him big time and can't wait for him to be gone, but I have to admit as a football fan I tend to overlook the human element most of the time.
It's funny how the money he earns makes you (not you lol) less understanding of his emotional state.

Now man up mf and go get us top 4. Fkin pussy lol.

I think Ade, should pay for assassins to take them out.

His family is a cluster fook.
I thought that with Paul McCartney divorce.
What did she get? Something like 25m?
You could prob get The Jackal or some nasty fk off Reddingtons Blacklist for half that lol.

The mother's juju curse on Ade wouldn't possibly relate to her son earning £150 k per week and forgetting to send his family a small portion of it would it ? I guess if he had sent home a couple of grand a week she might not be working in a Nigerian street market now and I suspect the juju curse would be lifted. Tough for Ade to manage on 148 k per week, I guess....

We're all different but Is anyone aware of any of the other uninjured surviving players that were on that bus that has continued their carreer in a similar vein to this man?

It's hard to say because Adebayor was/is unquestionably the highest profile player in the team, but this guy was wounded and still plays: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serge_Akakpo

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manucho - still playing
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djalma_Campos - still playing
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Zuela - not sure.. carried on after the attack though.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Africa_Cup_of_Nations_squads#.C2.A0Angola - most are around retirement age now, or still playing at the same level they were at before.
